FABULOUS FRIDAY

Good morning friends

Well, this is the last blog I shall write this year.  I can't believe we are approaching the end of yet another year can you?

As a child, time seemed to drag (other than the 6 week school holiday that is! Lol).  It seemed ages to wait from one Christmas to another.  These days however, we seem to hurtle at full speed from one Christmas to the next and the year in between seems to go sooooo fast don't you think?

What a year though!

I mean, we celebrated our Queen's Platinum Jubilee when she had tea with Paddington Bear, had three Prime Ministers in the space of two months, then we sadly lost our dear Queen Elizabeth II, we gained a new King Charles III and a new Prince & Princess of Wales - that was all a bit of a whirlwind wasn't it?

As if that wasn't enough we had a fabulous year with Lisa Horton Crafts didn't we?

So many fabulous releases to celebrate, Lisa becoming DESIGNER OF THE YEAR! and being awarded MOST INSPIRING BLOG - now there were two massive achievements to be proud of.  I mean I always thought Lisa deserved the accolade of Designer of the Year but for us to also win Most Inspiring Blog too, well that was fabulous.

I don't know about you but I am in awe of Lisa.  She sits in her office day after day coming up with such beautiful designs and the finished articles are not only stunning but also a joy to work with.  I can honestly say that since becoming part of the Lisa Horton Design Team my life has been enriched beyond measure.  Not only do I get the pleasure of creating samples to be shown on TV, I am also able to bring you live demo's through social media and on top of that I have "met" so many wonderful people through the Crafting with Lisa Horton Facebook group too.  I have also found people who have become some of my very best friends and will be friends forever.  What could be better?

***

I have seen so many comments in the group saying how lost people felt last Friday with no live. It did tickle me - especially the fact that husbands are now asking why there is no live on Friday! Hilarious.

So, to round off this year, (and put all those husbands minds at rest), Lisa will be live in the group tonight at 7pm as usual.

Remember there are several ways you can watch:

Lisa Horton Crafts on You Tube - always the best option

Lisa Horton Crafts on Facebook

Crafting with Lisa Horton Group on Facebook

and of course

the Front page of Lisa's website.

So, I shall see you over at Lisa's place at 7pm sharp.

***

All that remains for me to say is...

Thank you, on behalf of Lisa, Danny, Lily (not forgetting Miss Prudence), the Design Team and myself for all of your fabulous support and we all hope you will continue to join us for more fabulous products and fun in 2023.

Whatever you choose to do on New Year's Eve, enjoy yourselves, stay safe, look after one another and see you Next Year.

I'll leave you with some Words of Wisdom:

WEDNESDAY - WONDERFUL SALE

Morning all

I hope you are all enjoying the Festive Season with your loved ones and friends?

I had a fabulous Boxing Day with my gorgeous Grandchildren. As they get older the presents get smaller but sadly the price tag doesn't.  Fortunately, they are good kids and are always happy with whatever they get.  I always try and get them things they have asked for and then add in a few little extra treats.

I wanted to do the boys a treat box this year - you know, the things that they love but that Mum can't afford at the moment, what with the cost of everything.  Well, you should have seen their faces!!  Carter (the oldest) said "Mummy, is this why you wanted to know what our favourite treats were?" - No flies on Carter! Lol

I sent them all letters "from Santa" before Christmas telling them that they were on Santa's Nice list but Carter's was late arriving - I think I mentioned this to you previously, but hoorah, it arrived on Christmas Eve, so still in time for him to know he was on the Nice List, rather than the naughty list which is where he thought he was.  Poor Kid.  Thanks Royal Fail!!

***

So, today Lisa is on Create and Craft with an amazing sale show.

She is on with the lovely Charlie Hopkins so it will be a fabulous show.

If there were things you missed out on and you wished you had bought, well if they are in the show, now is the time to buy them as you won't see them at these prices again.

I think also, that a lot of these items will not be returning, so it will be a case of "when it is gone, it is gone!"

Show times: 4pm, 8pm today and 8am tomorrow.

If you want to get ahead of the game, click the icon above, go to the TV Schedule, look for today's date and scroll down to 4pm and click "In this show" to see what is on and what fabulous sale prices there are.

Hope you all manage to grab a bargain. 🙏🙏

***
Finally, my words of wisdom for today.

And on that note my lovelies, I will see you on Friday.

HAPPY BOXING DAY

 Good morning one and all.

Are you all suitably stuffed after your fabulous Christmas Lunches?  I know I am.

What did we all think of King Charles III's inaugral speech then?  Personally I think he did a fabulous job of it. I thought it was quite natural and I liked the fact that it was done from St George's chapel - a place that has some connection for him.  I was devastated at the loss of our dear Queen but I do think that she has left the job in the very capable hands of her son, our King don't you?

Now if only we had a Government that I felt the same about, well that would be awesome wouldn't it?

***

I know a lot of you had ordered goodies from Lisa as part of your Christmas presents and I do hope that you are all going to enjoy using them now that you have been able to unwrap them?

***

Do any of you do anything special between Christmas and New Year?  Visit family, go out for a meal, have friends round etc?  We don't really, other than our Boxing Day visit to the Grandchildren which we will be doing shortly.  I do love to see their little faces when they open their presents.

I have been a lucky girl this year and been spoilt with goodies to enhance my pencil drawing hobby so I am looking forward to getting stuck into that over the next few days.

How many of you have other hobbies besides collecting Lisa Horton Crafts goodies?  Well, actually, how many of you have time for other hobbies, lol?

I used to do a lot of Cross Stitch but alas my eyesight isn't what it was and it is a bit too detailed for me these days.  It was a bit time consuming too if I'm honest but oh my days it was so worth all the stitching, cursing and neck ache.

Pencil drawing is not a fast art at all, far from it.  It takes so many hours to lay down layers of colour and details but it is such a satisfying thing to do.  I hope to be able one day to take on commissions - to give other people the pleasure of seeing their beloved pets come to life on paper.  But, more than anything, and I know I have said this before, I want to be able to draw a picture of my four grandchildren and gift it to my daughter.  Maybe I should make that my main aim for 2023 - that's a worthwhile thing to aim for isn't it?

I also want to finally reach my target weight at Slimming World.  I have been so close to it for a while now and I really need to buckle down and concentrate on the things that will help me achieve my goal.

What achievements do you want to accomplish in 2023?  I don't mean New Year's resolutions, I mean let's face it we never stick to those now do we? Lol

Let me know in the comments what you hope to achieve in 2023 - I'd love to see them.

So, on to my Words of Wisdom for today:

And on that note, I will see you on Wednesday.

FABULOUS FESTIVE FRIDAY

 Good morning all.

Well, here we are on Christmas Eve, Eve and I have to say what I don't have, haven't done, I will go without and it won't get done now until after Boxing Day.

I think I misled you all when I posted in the group the other day.  It is hubby who has the chest infection, not me, lol.  Fortunately he was given antibiotics so hopefully will be well on the mend by Christmas Day.  Christmas Day is a quiet day in our house, just Graham and I.  We shall be going over to see the grandchildren on Boxing Day to give them their presents and spend some time with them. It is a day I always look forward to.  Children give so much without even trying don't they?

I took them out for lunch on Tuesday which was lovely.  It was a day tinged with sadness though as my Mother In Law died that morning.  Bless her heart, she had a good life at 96 but I shall miss her dearly.  Amie and I talked about whether to still go out but decided that it might just do us both good and indeed it did.

***

I shall be doing some more pencil drawings over the holidays - my mindfulness pastime that I love and of course doing some sample making for Lisa's next Create and Craft shows on 11th and 12th January, I just know you are going to adore what is on those shows, they are FAB-U-LOUS Daaahling!

You know I love being a part of Lisa's Design Team - the lives that we share are a huge part of my life and I love doing them.  The thing I love about them the most is the chat that goes alongside the craft - sometimes questions, sometimes funny quips but most of all - friendship.  I do think we are really lucky to have a fabulously friendly group on Facebook, especially when you think how many people we have in the group.  So to anyone who will be on their own this Christmas - if you are looking for some company, then why not pop in to the Crafting with Lisa Horton group and just say Hi.  There is bound to be someone on line at the same time as you.

***

So here is my little Words of Wisdom piece for today:

It just remains for me to say to you all, have a very
Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

I look forward to 2023 with a joy in my heart for all the good things that are to come and for everyone to be able to get back to some sort of normal life, without strikes, high fuel costs and high inflation.  Let's face it, it can't be any worse than 2022 ......... can it? 🙏🙏

🎄🎅🎄🎅🎄

See you on the Flip Side.

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY

 Morning everyone.

Because the Design Team are taking a break there will be no project for the blog today.

However, I thought I would still drop in and say Hi, just so you know we are all still around if you need us.

I have been able to catch up on all my little odd jobs this week so that the house is tidy and clean.  All the washing and ironing is done and up to date.  Fresh bedding on the bed.  I've even cleaned the windows inside.  Graham does outside but I have said it is a bit on the cold side at the moment! Gosh I am so generous aren't I?

I shall be sample making over the Christmas and New Year period as well as trying to fit in a little bit of pencil drawing.  I am getting withdrawal symptoms since I finished the picture of Sid.

My aim is to draw a picture of my four grandchildren at some point but I'm a way off that yet.  I will get there though, I am determined.  Animals is one thing but people - that's a whole other story.

Well, I'd best get on and sort tea out for this evening otherwise we won't be eating until late.

So here is my little bit of  wordy inspiration for today.

And on that note, I will see you on Friday.

MARVELLOUS MONDAY

Morning all

Well, here we are in the last week's run up to the Big Day.  Are you all ready, presents wrapped, food and wine bought?  I've got to be honest, for the first time in I don't know how many years all my prep is done.  My presents for the grandchildren have been wrapped and sitting in their Santa sacks since the 4th December.  All hubby's gifts are bought, wrapped and ready to be exchanged.  Food is all bought, except the fresh stuff which I will get mid week, dinner is planned and I can relax.

We rarely have a traditional Christmas lunch because neither of us are that fussed about Turkey - mind you from what I have seen and heard you will be lucky if you can find a fresh turkey this year at a reasonable price, thanks to bird flu.

So, we usually have a steak, hassleback potatoes, veg and gravy.  Neither of us are really pudding people so we don't bother with Christmas pudding.  To be honest, I usually buy an individual one for me because Graham doesn't like them, put it in the cupboard, forget all about it and throw it out at some point during the following year!  I know, that's really bad isn't it?  So this year, I am not buying one at all.

Then, before you know it, it will be New Year's Eve and we shall be saying goodbye to 2022.

*****

I am going to be spending some time working on new projects for the coming year.  Now, all I can say is, if you thought 2022 was great at Lisa Horton Crafts - 2023 is going to blow your mind!!

I am absolutely amazed by the beautiful things Lisa is bringing to you next year and I just know you all will be too.

***

I have decided to keep the last three Meet the Team features for the New Year so I hope you don't mind.

I thought, going forward, I would finish each blog post with a little inspirational quote.

So here is the first one.

I love things like this so this will be my parting shot for each blog post in future.

Have a wonderful day and I'll see you on Wednesday.

FABULOUS FRIDAY

Good Friday morning to you all.

I do hope you are managing to keep warm during this really cold spell of weather we seem to be having.  On the up side, it looks as though it will get a little milder over the weekend and into next week so I'm keeping everything crossed for that.

For those of you who join me every Monday and Thursday for my lives, I just want to say a really big heartfelt thank you.  Without you watching there really would be no point in us doing the lives so it is always really gratifying that you come and spend half an hour with both myself and Claire and of course our lovely Lisa on a Friday night.

If you missed Claire's live on Tuesday here is the link for the edited version on our You Tube channel.

If you missed my live yesterday then here is the link for the edited version up on our You Tube channel.

So as we have mentioned we will be taking a break from the lives for the Festive Period and we will be back week commencing 9th January.  Lisa will be on TV that week too so I will probably have new stuff to show you!! How exciting is that?
If you thought 2022 was good then 2023 is going to be GGGRREEEAAAATTTTTT!!
Not that I'm excited at all! Lol.

So it being Friday Lisa will be live tonight at 7pm as usual and this will also be Lisa's last live for 2022.
She will be back on TV on 28th December with a sale show so if you missed out on anything you really wanted then it might be worth watching as there are bound to be some fabulous bargains.

So back to tonight.
Lisa will be talking Watercolouring again.
It may be demo, it may be a Q&A, it may be a bit of both, who knows?
What it will be, is a lot of fun as usual.

There are several places you can watch and no matter where you watch, Lisa can see all your comments.

There will be two giveaways as usual and remember you have one week to claim your prize.  So remember if your name is chosen, contact me directly via Messenger with your address details so that we can get your prize out to you asap.

So there we go then folks.
That's your lot for this week.

The blog will still be posting over the Christmas period but there won't be any project Wednesday's until we return in the New Year.  So it will be a shortened version and I may even keep the last three Meet the DT features until the New Year too.

See you over at Lisa's at 7pm sharp.

PROJECT WEDNESDAY - PASTEL FLORALS

Morning all.

I know this isn't craft related but it just breaks my heart.

Why is it that whenever Christmas approaches there are always disasters that befall people?  Firstly we had the Fishing Boat off Jersey with three men losing their lives, then the awful explosion of the flats, again on Jersey with another seven deaths and people still missing and then the awful awful incident with the four children falling through ice on a lake in Birmingham.

My heart goes out to all those families that have been affected but especially to the parents of those children.

Make sure you hug your children/grandchildren that little bit tighter and hold them a little bit closer because life is so very very precious.

***

If you missed my live on Monday, here is the link to the edited version which is now up on our You Tube channel.

***
So, it's Wednesday and you all know that means a fabulous project for you to have a go at.

This week's project is by the wonderful Maria Moorhouse.

Take it away Maria.

You will need
Daffodil slimline embossing folder
Botanical Fern embossing folder
Green and yellow ink pads
Ink brushes
Clear sparkle pen
Scoreboard
Die cutting machine
Green and yellow card stock
White card stock

Cut a piece of green card 10.5cm x 16cm, position just over a third of the card in the Botanical Fern folder and run through your die cutting machine.

Flip the card around and embossing the other end of the card.

Use a scoreboard and tool to emboss lines where the embossed sections end.

Layer the embossed piece onto yellow card 11cm x 16.5cm, and fix onto a cardblank. This would make a nice clean & simple card simply with the addition of a sentiment through the central area.

Trim a piece of white card 7.5cm x 12.5cm and emboss with the Daffodil folder.

Lightly brush the embossed design with green and yellow inks.

Brush over the design with a clear sparkle pen for a nice shimmer.

Layer onto yellow card stock 8cm x 13cm and secure onto your card to finish.

I do hope that you will give this a go.  It is such a lovely project and a relatively quick one to do too.  Remember to share your makes in the Crafting with Lisa Horton group so that we can all see.

Right, that's your lot for today.
See you back here on Friday.

MARVELLOUS MONDAY

 Happy Monday people.

Well, it's getting close now isn't it?  Just think, pretty soon it will all be over and we will be counting down to next Christmas!!  Lol

So, a quick word about the Festive Period.

As a Design Team we will be taking a break after this week so that we can enjoy a little bit of family time too.  So that means the lives will take a break after this week and they will recommence on Monday 9th January 2023.

If you would like us to cover a particular subject, technique or card type in the lives please do leave a comment on this post so that we can work out between us who could do what.  The lives are a way of the DT encouraging you to try new things or to try and master things that you would like to attempt but don't know where to start so please don't be afraid to suggest anything.  😁😁

The blog will continue throughout, so we can still keep in touch. I am sure that the DT ladies will be popping in to the group at some point over the Festive Period and the admin team will always be around if you have any questions or need any help with anything, so just shout up.

Talking of the blog - do you have an idea for a new feature?  Is there something you think we could cover on the blog that we don't do anywhere else?  We only have three Meet the Team features left now so it would be nice to replace it with something fun.  Have a think and again, leave a comment below with your suggestions.  I am still going to do the Featured Follower on a Friday but that won't be every week - just now and again.  Would you like that feature to be a bit more of a bio of the person or just a glimpse of their work?  Again, ideas below please.

****

What's on this week then?

I will be live in the CWLH group at 1pm so I hope you can join me.

FABULOUS FRIDAY

Good Friday morning to you all.

Oh my word, how cold has it been these past few days eh?

Today is quite a special day in the land of Lisa Horton Crafts - as today is Danny's birthday.

So, please join me in wishing the Best Packer in the Business a very very happy birthday.

PROJECT WEDNESDAY - OH DEER! IT'S CHRISTMAS

Morning everyone.

I hope you are all well?

Yesterday I spent the day with my Grandson, as he is off school after his operation and my Granddaughter and for me that is such a treat.

He is doing really well after his little operation and he is being strong, just like I knew he would.  I treated him to a box of Brownies as they are one of his favourite treats.  His sister had problems with dairy but has now beaten the milk ladder.  Trouble is she doesn't really like proper chocolate, she much prefers the dairy free one.  Expensive tastes that little lady has!! Lol

So a day away from the computer, away from my craft stuff and away from hubby.  It is a different day but it just proved to me that I really do like my routine.  Mind you I didn't really have time to think about how much I was missing my craft room.  Etta, who will be three in February, keeps me on my toes.  She is a little whirlwind and she chatters non stop, bless her.  Leighton keeps himself to himself mainly, so I took my ipad with me and he played on that a lot.  He loves doing jigsaws and I have an app on the ipad that means he can do jigsaws without all the pieces lying around on the floor.  Easily pleased he is.  Just love them to pieces.

***

Anyway, back to business.

In case you missed my live on Monday, here is the link to the edited version which is now up on our You Tube channel.  Please consider subscribing, if you haven't already.  We are always adding content and it would be a shame for you to miss it. 😉

We have another fabulous project for you and today's project has been provided by the lovely Lorraine.  Thanks Lorraine.

OH DEER! IT'S CHRISTMAS

 What you will need.
 DEF - SLIMLINE EMBOSSING FOLDER
DEF - LAYERING STENCILS
ULTI-MATE 3D FLORAL AND FOLIAGE ELEMENT DIES
NESTED BUBBLE SQUARES DIES
3D EMBOSSING FOLDER - KNITTED

Stencil the letter D in colours of your
choice and die cut.
Die cut the letter D twice more and the
Oh Deer it’s Christmas die three times
then stick the layers together.

Carefully remove the D from the Deer
die cut by following the outline of the
letter e.

Using the sixth largest stitched nested square
die, cut it in Kraft card and emboss using the
knitted folder.
Swipe the embossed card gently with a white ink
pad.

Cut the bubble frame in green card and
stick to a 6x6 card base.
Apply 3D foam pads to the embossed panel
and attach to card.

Place the 'oh' central at the top of the embossed
panel and it’s Christmas central at the bottom
making sure there’s enough room to fit the large
floral D before sticking directly to the card.
Add the large letter D and the cropped letters
from Deer into the space so you have an equal
distance at each side.

And there you have it!

Thank you Lorraine.
That's lovely

So there you go then.  Another fabulous project for you to have a go at.
Don't forget that you can do this with so many of Lisa's Phrases, not just the Christmas ones.

Right, that's your lot for today.
I will add Claire's You Tube link on Friday.

Monday 5 December 2022

MARVELLOUS MONDAY

Good Monday morning to you all.

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend?

I'm feeling all virtuous as I sit here writing today's blog because I have finished all the children's Christmas shopping, and they are all wrapped and in their Santa sacks ready for the big day.  Well I say the big day, it's actually Big Day plus 1 because we go over on Boxing Day.  We did try and go on Christmas Day one year but to be honest it was all a bit overwhelming because they were so excited what with presents from Santa and Mummy and Daddy, there wasn't a spare bit of carpet to even walk on let along sit down on. Lol.  So we said we would always go over on Boxing Day as it would be a bit more relaxed.

I haven't been this organised since my daughter was little!! Lol

How are you all doing?  Are you all ready and prepared?  I just have a Dundee cake to make this week and that is all my prep finished too, apart from lunch on Christmas Day obviously.

***

So what do we have going on this week then?

Monday 5th December

Well I will be live at 1pm as usual over in the CWLH group so I hope you can join me for that.

Tuesday 6th December

Claire will be live at 2pm in the CWLH group as usual.

Wednesday 7th December

Project Day on the Blog

Do please let me know if there is something particular that you would like a step by step on then we can sort something out for you.

Thursday 8th December

I will be live at 1pm in the CWLH group

Friday 9th December

Lisa will be live at 7pm and doing some watercolouring.

Links for that will be later in the week.
