FABULOUS FRIDAY

 Hi all

Well another week draws to a close and we are one more week nearer to the Festive period.  Notice I didn't use the "C" word, lol.

I wonder just how many people are actually going to cut back on Christmas this year?  I know I am.  Okay, so maybe not on the grandkids presents but definitely on what we buy in food wise.

It never ceases to amaze me what some people put in their trollies in the supermarkets in the run up to Christmas.  I stood in the queue behind a woman one year and when the cashier said £247.39 I nearly fell over!!  Okay so maybe she was having friends over or had a large family but that seemed an awful lot of money to me.

There is only ever Graham and I for Christmas Day and in years gone by I suppose we have been guilty of buying things "because it is Christmas" but those days have passed now.  We shall have a small meal as we usually do on a weekend but it won't be falling off the plate edge that's for certain. Lol

Anyhoo, let's get on shall we?

So it is Friday once again and that means we are all meeting round at Lisa's place for her usual Friday Night Live.

Don't forget you can watch on several platforms:

Lisa Horton Crafts on YT

Lisa Horton Crafts on Facebook

Crafting with Lisa Horton Group on Facebook

I know there is loads to tell you and a sneaky peek at what is coming up on next week's Create and Craft shows on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Don't panic - it is only a small show, honestly.

So that's it for this week.

See you back here on Monday for another Meet the Team feature and all the details of what is coming up during the week.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone

  1. We will be working at Christmas as usual so we don't spend much on food. I keep checking c&c to see if stock loaded yet and price dropped if any... see you tonight 😃

  2. I've cut back on the food we buy at Xmas too! Too much wasted in previous years! And more pennies left to buy Lisa's lovely wares 🥰

  4. Just been to do the weekly shop - seriously blink and the price goes up at the moment. Cut back on 'fripperies' for Christmas for a few years now; seriously how many tubs of chocolates etc do you really need! Have caught up with the 'lives' on You Tube as had a busy week and couldn't join in whilst they happened. Great inspiration and tips as always thanks both Dawn and Claire. See you all at Lisa's tonight! Su Robso

  6. I think the Christmas adverts suggest that everyone should have an overflowing dinner table. I am sure they wouldn't be able to eat that much food. Given the cost of inflation I am sure a lot of people will put a bit more thought into what they buy. Having said, like you Dawn, the grandchildren always do well. I love the blogs.

    1. Yes I agree Glenys, those telly tables always look sooo full don't they? I'm not sure people would be able to afford to buy it let along eat it all. Lol Dx

  7. Far too much food wasted over Christmas and I find I buy less each year. Same goes for presents, only buy what people want or will use, otherwise it’s a waste of money

  10. I managed to see both lives on YouTube this week from Dawn and Claire very informative and learnt that a spray mist or 2 on Lisa's cardstock does not work the same as normal A4 Cardstock. Hope I can catch the live tonight and see you all there

  11. Yes I think some people do over do it around the festive season but you never know if they have huge families I suppose. I for one won’t be over doing the festive food same as many of us.
Fabulous lives and very informative too from both Claire and Dawn. I really enjoy the lives when I am able to attend.

  14. We used to be guilty of overbuying, not any more. We get just what we need and if it’s not there, tough.

  15. Really enjoyed the lives this week - was lucky enough to catch Dawn's Live 'live'. I love how everyone shares tips and what works for them in this group. Looking forward to Lisa's live tonight, excited to see what delights she has to tempt us with. I do agree about Christmas, I'm amazed at how much some people put in their baskets. We seem to have drifted away from the spirit of Christmas ro making it a very commercial venture not about caring and catching up with old friends and new....

  17. Thank you for the blog Dawn. I struggle to cut back for Christmas even though I know I really should, I just love spoiling my family. I'm sure I don't spend that much compared to many though. We don't buy big grand gifts, mostly useful items that we need. But what I enjoy a lot at Christmas is Christmas crafting, the handmade cards and gift tags, the wrapping while listening to Xmas music, decorating the house etc.

    1. I think we all struggle with cutting back on gifts don't we, especially where children are concerned. I always like the idea of wrapping to Christmas music but somehow it never seems to happen. Lol Dx
