MARVELLOUS MONDAY

Good Monday morning to you all.

I trust you all had a fabulous weekend?

Did you manage to catch Lisa's show on Craft Extra yesterday from Sandown?  It was a lovely couple of hours just watching Lisa demo her fabulous brand new Floral Vine set.  Did you buy it?  Do you think you will buy it if you haven't already?  It really is the cutest set. Just saying!

Well, I was having a lovely day on Saturday, finished all my housework on Friday, finished all the washing too.  Planned to iron it on Sunday morning (which I did).  So I was just finishing off in the craft room when I needed to check something on my bank account.

Imagine my horror when I log on to find a transaction on there that I didn't recognise!!  Not a silly small amount either - £97!!!  To Ocado of all places.  I wouldn't mind but I don't even shop at Ocado.

So rang the bank for the lady to tell me it was the other cardholder's purchase - obviously my husband!  Now I know I go on about him, and his memory isn't the best but I do think that even he would have remembered setting up an account with Ocado, doing an online shop, having it delivered, putting it all away and all this without me noticing!!! Come on!!

Anyway, they put me through to the fraud department and thankfully they have refunded the amount - however he did tell me that if more information comes to light (not sure what that would be to be honest) then they might have to take if off again!!!  I don't think so!  You just try it mate - I'm ready for ya!! Lol.

So, moral of the story, check your bank transactions very carefully.  Hubby doesn't even use his debit card very much at all so it is a complete mystery as to how anyone gained access to it! Scary.

Anyhoo - let's get down to business shall we?

So, this is the last instalment of our Meet the Team feature and today it is little old me! Lol

How many jobs did you have before you found your Dream job?
I don't think I ever found a Dream job - but my last job before retiring was working in Research & Development in the NHS.  I was responsible for making sure all our Clinical Trials were being run in accordance with all the Regulations and for training medical staff around those regulations.  I did love that job but retirement sounded like a much better plan.  Besides, I wouldn't be able to do what I do for Lisa if I worked so it was a win win for me!

Chinese or Indian
Chinese if and when I go out.

Fish and Chips or Pizza
Fish and chips - a very rare treat these days.

Surf or turf
Both really.  I love a good steak but then again I love fish so I'm happy either way.

Dogs or cats
Again, both.  We have always had cats and currently Salty holds my heart in his paws.  We have also had German Shepherds but they are a bit too much for both of us these days, lol.  Cats will suffice from now on.

Sport or not
Love sport.  Don't do sport - no siree!! Love F1 and Moto GP, Golf, Ashes Cricket, Football and Rugby and Tennis.  Only watch the big tournaments though. Lol.

Music whilst crafting or not
Very very rarely.  Might have the computer on in the background if Lisa is on TV but otherwise, I usually craft in the peace and quiet.

Favourite film genre
I don't really have a favourite.  If I like it I like it.  I am a huge Tom Hanks fan so will watch literally anything with him in it but I will watch most things, even horror.  Mind you I have to watch horror films during the day! Lol

Favourite music genre
Again, don't really have a favourite.  I was a huge Elvis fan - cried myself to sleep the day he died! But I like quite a mix, but like Miriam - I do love a bit of Robbie.

What is your MOST favourite LHC product
When I put this question in, everyone without exception said "Just one?" Lol.  It is difficult to choose just one product but those of you who know me won't be surprised to hear me say that the fabulous Textures Stamp set is one of my most favourite products Lisa has ever brought out.

What is your dream for the future.
Peace! Everywhere!
I want my grandchildren to be able to grow up and enjoy life not worry about whether they feel safe to go out and explore the world.  You are a long time dead so why would anyone want to bring that forward if it can be avoided?

So there you go.
You now know a little bit more about everyone on our team.
I hope you enjoyed reading everyone's answers.

Finally, to our words of wisdom.

See you Wednesday

FABULOUS FRIDAY

Good Friday morning all.

Gosh, doesn't January always feel like the loooooongest month?  I mean, I don't work any more but January always did, and still does, feel like it goes on forever and ever. Lol

I hope you watched Lisa's three shows and are going to tune in to Craft Extra to watch at 10am too.

What did you think of the Glitter that matches the Glitter card?  Let me tell you, if you were undecided, you really will be blown away by it.  It is Phenomenal.

***

My two grandsons went to the Young Voices production yesterday in Birmingham.  Honestly, they were soooo excited to be going and I am sure they had a fabulous time.  It was however, quite a late night, didn't get home until after 11.30 so I'm hoping they still managed to get up for school this morning. Lol

More to the point I hope their Mum managed to get up on time because she went with them.

***

If you missed Claire's live on Tuesday it is now available to watch on our You Tube channel. Just click the pic.

And, if you missed my live yesterday, it is available to watch on our You Tube channel. Just click on the pic.

***
Now normally I would be adding all the links for Lisa's Friday night live here but as you probably already know Lisa has postponed this until next Monday so I will add all the links on Monday's blog.

***
Remember that I asked you for some suggestions for a new feature on the blog as we are coming to the end of the Meet the Team feature next week?
Well I have decided what that feature is going to be.

On the last Friday of the month we will feature a
CARD OF THE MONTH
This will be chosen by a different member of the Design Team each month and featured here on the blog.
Whoever, chooses the card will put their reasons for choosing the card alongside the photo of the card.
So if you would like your card to be featured, make sure you add them all to the facebook group.
There's no prize or anything, it will just be a way of featuring our wonderful crafter's and a way of saying thank you to you for supporting Lisa Horton Crafts.

This feature will start next month as we have one more Meet The Team person to meet on Monday.  Now I wonder who on earth that could be. 😂😂😂

So, finally to our Words of Wisdom.

So true, don't you think?

Have a fabulous weekend.
See you Monday.

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY - PROJECT DAY

Good morning one and all.

I hope this cold morning finds you well and happy?

I've got to say I am not enjoying this cold weather are you?  I mean I would rather it was cold, dry and sunny than cold, wet and miserable but I don't like this really really cold weather.  It's like the cold gets right into your bones and once that happens you just can't seem to get warm again whatever you do.

I was supposed to see my grandchildren at the weekend, they were coming to see me for my birthday - much easier at a weekend than having to trek over here after school.  Sadly for me, they couldn't come.  My poor little Etta (the youngest) has chicken pox (or chicken pops as she calls it) and the poor little thing has it everywhere, even in her mouth, so that's making life a little uncomfortable for her, little darling.  So, we said let's leave it until she is better as we have to be careful of hubby getting shingles again.  After his last bout we definitely don't need that again.  So I am hoping they scab over quickly and she starts to feel better real soon  as it is her birthday on the 1st February too.  Can't be poorly on her birthday now can she?  I can't believe she is going to be 3 either!!  It just doesn't seem five minutes since she was born and now she is going to be 3!!  Then again my first born grandson will be 10 this year!!! Good grief - it's making me feel old. Lol.

***

Anyhoo, enough about my trials and tribulations let's get down to business.

If you missed my live on Monday, the edited (although still quite long) version is available to view on our You Tube channel, just click the picture below to go and watch.  Remember to leave a comment so I know you visited - I always answer them.  Also, if you are not a subscriber, please subscribe whilst you are there and then you won't miss any content being uploaded in the future.

***
As usual, with it being Wednesday, we have a fabulous project for you.
Today's project is brought to you by the lovely Lorraine.
Take it away Lorraine.

   You will need:
  Nested Stitched Slims
   Nested Torn Edge Slims
Water Lily Flourish Layering Stencils
   Ticker Phrases DL Phrases
Blending Ink of choice - I used
Sugar Candy, Spiced Plum, Surfs Up, Juicy Pineapple, Woodland Moss and Cobblestones
  LHC glue
 Foam  pads
White card, I used LHC textured
DL card blank, or a piece of card 20cm x 21cm scored on the short side at 10cm
    Die cutting machine
Scissors

Step 1: Cut the largest die from the Nested Stitched Slims, we shall call this number 1 die, then the following alternate two dies, that will be the third and fifth smaller dies all in white card.

Step 2: Using low tack tape layer and fix the die cuts as in the picture below.

Step 3: Place the assembled layers on your Ultimate,  attach stencils 1 and 2 onto the peg system together. Adjust your layered panel into position allowing the stencil to overhang the card.

Step 4: I prefer the centre of the Lilies to have a different colour than the petals so I started stencilling with stencil number 3 then 4 using the Sugar Candy for layer 3 and Spiced Plum for stencil 4.

Step 5: Replace stencil 1 and ink the centre of each Lily in Juicy Pineapple. You can lightly ink each flower with the pink and plum or skip inking to leave a white border around each petal.

Step 6: Now move on to stencil 2 followed by stencils 5 and 6 for the leaves and detailing. I used Juicy Pineapple and Surfs Up for the leaves, Woodland Moss and Cobblestone for details.

Step 7: Carefully take the layers apart, there’s no need to remove any tape residue as you are going to now fix foam pads on the reverse side of each layer apart from the largest one.

Step 8: Starting with the smallest layer match the stencilled image to the image of the middle  layer. It is easier to work from the top layer down as this is the layer with the most stencilling and will make matching easier.

Step 9: Ink the edges of the torn edges panel and glue to a DL card base then glue the stencilled panel on top and add an appropriate sentiment

Thank you Lorraine, what a beautiful project.

***

Don't forget Lisa will be on Create and Craft tomorrow at 4pm, 8pm and Friday at 8am followed by a Craft Extra show at 10am.  I just hope she has some stock left to sell. Lol

And, finally to our words of wisdom.

Simple but perfect!

See you Friday

Right that's your schedule for the week, phew it's gonna be busy! Lol

Time then for the last but one chapter of our Meet the Team feature.

This week we are meeting our lovely Miriam Grazier.

Now we don't see a lot of Miriam in the group these days as she has a very VERY busy job as a senior HR professional.  Miriam works tirelessly behind the scenes here at Lisa Horton Crafts and we would be lost without her.  So without further ado, here's Miriam.

FABULOUS FRIDAY

 Hello all.

Well, it looks as though 2023 is going to go as fast as 2022 did, lol.

How are we all doing?  Have you all had snow?

We had snow overnight Wed/Thurs and most of the day Thursday.  Now it has frozen so the roadway outside our hours is lethal.  We live in a cul de sac so it never gets gritted.  Hubby always salts our pathway from the front gate to the front door and down the path to the back door but I daren't step outside our front gate otherwise I might be flat on my back!  Not a pretty sight. Lol

***

If you missed my live yesterday I have put the edited version up on our You Tube channel.  So if you want to watch just click the pic below and it will take you straight to the video.

It was a really fun little card to make and so easy too so if you give it a go remember to share it into the group.

And if you missed Claire's live on Tuesday, that is also available on our YT channel.
***

So Fabulous Friday means another fabulous live with our lovely Lisa.
As usual there are numerous ways to watch as listed below:

Lisa Horton Crafts on Facebook (Lisa's business page)

and of course,

the front page of Lisa's website

Remember to go and comment on the video that Lisa mentioned in last Friday's live to be in with a chance of winning a prize.  Here is the link in case you haven't done it yet! 😉
A winner will be chosen in Lisa's live later tonight.

And finally to our words of wisdom.

Have a fabulous weekend and I will see you all on Monday.

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY - PROJECT DAY

 Morning all

Well, what an interesting few days I have had!  When technology works it's great but when it doesn't it is really, REALLY frustrating.

So, you remember I said I had not been able to download my lives to edit them and put them on to You Tube?  Well, I have news!

I did a lot of googling about downloading videos, found lots of information - some helpful, some money pits and some absolutely totally useless! Lol

Well, I finally found a way to download my videos to my computer and then get them into my editing software so that I can edit them and then upload them to You Tube, yaaay!

Now, the software I am using is Free - for now!  I just hope it isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg to use going forward otherwise I will be back to square one!  Watch this space folks!

So if you missed Monday's live, here is the link for the edited  version on You Tube.

And if you missed last Thursday's live then here is the link for the edited version on You Tube.
You might notice that the card in the photo is different to the one in the live.  I decided to use the flowers I had stencilled during the live to make another and I was much happier with the second version.

***
So, it being Wednesday, time for another fabulous project from our wonderful DT.

This week's project is brought to you by the lovely Mary Kelly.

You will need:
Tracks Embossing Folder
Ink of Choice - I used Surf's Up blending ink
Essentials Die Set
How many candles die set
A5 sticker sentiments
LHC glue
Ultimate
LHC Black ink
White card
Black card
Trimmer
Die cutting machine
Scissors
Foam pads

Step 1: Cut a piece of white card to fit inside the Tracks Embossing Folder.

Step 2: Choose one inside panel of the embossing folder and rub the Surf's Up ink pad directly over the surface. Place in the piece of white card and run through your die cutting machine.

Step 3: Remove the card and wipe down your folder - damp kitchen towel or a microfibre cloth will work well. Trim the panel to 3 ½ inches x 8 inches.  Cut a panel of black card to 3 5/8 inches x 8 1/8 inches.  Layer to create a fine border.  Cut a piece of white card 8 x 8 1/8 inches and score at 4 inches along the 8 inch side to create the card base.

Step 4: Cut a candle from white card and stamp with black ink in the Ultimate.

Step 5: Cut five solid stars and five star frames from the essentials die set and layer these up.

Step 6: Add foam adhesive to the backs of the stars and candle and position as shown.

Step 7: Personalise the card using the A5 sticker sentiments.

Thank you Mary.
Well, folks, I think there has been some awesome male card inspiration this week don't you?

Finally, to our words of wisdom.

See you Friday.

MARVELLOUS MONDAY

 Morning all

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend.

Well, what a busy live Lisa had on Friday night didn't she?  You have certainly given her an awful lot of food for thought with all your suggestions.

So, it will be a bit of a quieter week this week, well for you at least.  The DT are busy busy busy behind the scenes, beavering away making lots and lots of luscious samples to show you how fabulous all the upcoming goodies are!  I've sorted out my street corner in readiness to make the extra cash I am going to need to buy it all! 😂 Well, I mean, you have to get it all - don't you?

So before I tell you what's on this week, I need to tell you about my video from last Thursday.

I put a post up in the group to let you all know that I had lost the option to download my video following my live.  So I filmed a new video over the weekend to add to You Tube but sadly this did the same thing to me.  So on this occasion there won't be an edited version on You Tube, just the live in the group.  I am hoping that it will be back to normal tomorrow but we shall just have to wait and see.  I am sure it is a Facebook problem rather than a computer problem so fingers crossed.

***
