MONDAY ON A FRIDAY

 Good morning everyone.

Well, I definitely think that the temperatures have cooled down quite a bit, don't you?

The one thing I do love about the Autumn is the colours.  The huge variation in shades of brown, orange, yellow, red and even green make for a beautiful patchwork of colour don't you think?

I love to see large stretches of trees in their Autumn coats - so beautiful.

Fingers crossed that the weather stays fine for Monday.  Our Queen deserves a beautiful day doesn't she?

Truly the end of an era - but - the beginning of another.

PROJECT WEDNESDAY - SPRING ANEMONE SCROLL

 Good morning all

I hope today finds you all well?

I have to say I was absolutely blown away by the crowds in London yesterday evening when our Queen was being brought home to Buckingham Palace.  I don't think I have ever seen anything quite like it before, or will again for that matter.

People lined up along the route, cars stopped on the opposite carriageway - hundreds of them and our wonderful Police force just being there - totally respectful of people's desire to see their Queen one last time.  Can you imagine how many photographs will be across Social Media platforms in the coming days.  The advent of the mobile phone has given people the opportunity to capture moments in history that would have otherwise been shut away in the media archives and only aired at times they deemed appropriate.  Whereas, today, across the world people have the power to display their memories, the moments in history that they captured, anywhere, at any time in any context.  How times have changed.

I shall watch later today as Her Majesty is taken to Westminster Hall, as I have watched 99% of the coverage.  I feel like I have to watch it unfold otherwise I will never believe that it is true. Do you know what I mean?

My heart goes out to all of the Queen's family but in particular to Princess Anne.  I have always thought she was the image of her mother and they had a closeness to be envied.  I watched as she walked behind the cortege in Edinburgh and thought how brave but tired she looked.  I read her powerful statement yesterday with tears in my eyes but a heart full of admiration and respect.

Praying for strength for them all in the coming days.

*****

Well, time for a little bit of light relief I think don't you?

It's Wednesday and that means a fabulous project for you all.

Today, that project is brought to you by our lovely Maria Moorhouse.

YOU WILL NEED

LHCEF097 Spring Anemone folder and die
LHCAS074 Spring Anemone layering stencils
LHCEF098 Parchment scroll folder and die
LHCCS061 Believe in yourself stamp set
Black permanent inkpad for stamping
Blending inkpads, brown, orange, dark orange, dark red, green, mid green, dark green.
A5 card blank
Black and orange card for layering
Cream card
Ink brushes and applicator

Start with a piece of cream coloured card, or mottled card, die cut a scroll and emboss with the folder.

Use a blending applicator to add brown ink around the edges of the scroll.
Die cut and emboss another scroll from any card,  cut off the ‘rolled up’ parts top and bottom to use as masks.
Place the extra pieces over your scroll and blend a small amount of brown ink as a shadow, do this top and bottom.
With the masks still securely in place, use your layering stencils and inks to stencil the Spring Anemone to the scroll.
Remove masks, use a permanent black ink (Lisa's Cloud 9 Solid Black would be perfect here) to stamp a greeting from the Believe in yourself set.
Bend the top and bottom of your scroll around the barrel of a pen or pencil for extra dimension.
Trim a piece of orange card to approximately 13.5cm x 19.5cm. Emboss top and bottom with the Spring Anemone folder.
Lightly blend brown ink over the embossed areas.
Layer your embossed card onto black card and fix onto an A5 card blank.
Add your scroll to the centre and add accents/embellishments as desired.

What a simply fabulous project, thank you Maria.

All product can be purchased at www.thatcraftplace.co.uk - stock permitting.  If an item you wish to purchase is out of stock then please click the "add to wishlist" button.  The more requests that are received, the more likelihood of the item being re-ordered.

NEW BEGINNINGS

 Good morning all.

Well, what a devastating few days it has been!  The death of our beloved Queen and the Proclomation of King Charles III all within four days.  The announcement of a new Prince and Princess of Wales too - I think that is wonderful news don't you?

What a whirlwind.

I can only admire the strength of the whole of the Royal Family.  I watched the exhausted and drawn face of the Princess Royal as she accompanied her mother's coffin on the journey to Holyrood Castle, how hard that must have been for her.

I know they are born into this life and are educated about protocols and etiquette but at the end of the day they have lost their most beloved member of the family and that in itself has to be tough.

In these unprecedented times, it is difficult to know how to restore balance, but after posting in our fabulous group you have given me the support and strength to know that normality is good for us all.

If we can learn anything from these awful days it is that life has to go on and our wonderful Royal Family have shown us that carrying on with life is normal and not disrespectful.

***

So, with normality in mind here is a quick run down of this week's happenings in the world of Lisa Horton Crafts.

Monday - 1pm - Dawn's live in the Crafting with Lisa Horton Group

Tuesday - 11am - Claire's live in the Crafting with Lisa Horton Group

Thursday - 10am - Dawn's live in the Crafting with Lisa Horton Group

Friday - 7pm - Lisa Horton's live on the Lisa Horton Crafts page and the

Crafting with Lisa Horton You Tube channel

Voting is still open in the Crafts Beautiful Awards just in case you haven't voted yet or you know of anyone that would like to vote and hasn't. Just click the logo to take you to the voting page.

To think that it is only just over two and a half years ago that Lisa made the decision to branch out on her own and what a phenomenal time it has been.  None of this would have been possible without the support and belief of Lisa's followers and customers so on Lisa and Danny's behalf, THANK YOU.

Okay, so that's me for today.

Hope to see you later in the group for my live but not to worry if you can't make it, I will post a link to the edited version here on Wednesday along with our fabulous Wednesday Project.

See you soon

THE QUEEN

 Good morning everyone.

What a truly sad day yesterday turned out to be.  Had anyone told me that I would be sitting in floods of tears in the early evening mourning the passing of our glorious Queen - well you just wouldn't think it would you?

I have only ever known our Queen as our Monarch and what a truly remarkable lady she was.  She performed her duties like the true servant she said she would be all those years ago following the death of her beloved father.

I heard many tributes yesterday but I've got to be honest and say the one that I found most moving was that from Boris Johnson who said "it is only when we face the reality of our loss that we truly understand what has gone.  It is only really now that we grasp how much she meant for us, how much she did for us, how much she loved us.  We had come to believe, like children, that she would just go on and on"  If you haven't read his statement, I think you should.  He may not be everyone's cup of tea and yes he has made some awful mistakes but he is human like the rest of us and his words were spoken from the heart - in my humble opinion.

A sad day indeed - the passing of a Monarch, of a Mother, a Grandmother, a Great Grandmother and a truly remarkable woman - the like of whom I don't ever think we will see again.

Rest in Peace Your Majesty - your Service is done now.

💗💗💗💗

If like us, you were deeply affected by the news of the Queen's passing you will, I hope, understand that Lisa has decided to cancel tonight's live as a mark of respect not only for the Queen but for her whole family.

Whether you are a Royalist or not we feel that this is the right decision and we hope you understand.

PROJECT WEDNESDAY - EXPLOSION SHAKER CARD

 Morning all.

Don't forget that Lisa is on Create and Craft later today at 4pm with the fabulous new layering stencils that you have all been asking for.  It's going to be a crazy fast show I think so get in early if you can. Just saying. Lol

If you didn't manage to catch Claire's live yesterday here is a link for you to be able to watch at your leisure.  It was a fab live with lots of hints and tips for your cardmaking.  Well worth a watch.

***

Another Wednesday so that means another fabulous project for you.

This project is brought to you by the lovely Mary Kelly.

Mary has some fabulous ideas for her cards and this one is no exception.

So I'll let Mary tell you how to go about it!

This is a very popular card style.

I was inspired by several online tutorials including Sam Calcott.

You will need:

LHC Star slim line Embossing Folder

LHC Sentiment Insert Trio

LHC Scalloped nested circles

Card of choice 12 x 12 – 3 colours

(300gsm might be a little thick so something lighter)

Glue

Sequins

Acetate

Foam tape

Die cutting machine

Double sided tape – red liner is good

Scoreboard

Scoring tool

Guillotine/Trimmer

Step 1:

Cut two pieces of card 12 x 6 inches. Score each piece on the long side at 3/6/9 inches. One of these will form the card base.

Step 2:

Score the other piece as shown to create two crosses. Use your scoreboard or a ruler and scoring tool to make the crosses. Fold and score the score lines as shown. Note some score lines are mountains – they come forward and some are valleys – they project backwards. Trim approximately 1/8inch of each side to ensure this piece will fit into your base card, Check by laying this section into the base.

Step 3:

To decorate the front cut two panels of card 3 ¾ x 5 ¾. To decorate all the internal triangles cut two squares 3 ¾ x 3 ¾ and then cut these in half for the larger sections. Cut 4 squares 2 ¾ x 2 ¾ and then cut these in half for the smaller triangles. Emboss all these section and attach.

Step 4:

Lay the sentiment circle down and add the larger circle – I have used the fifth largest circle from the scalloped circle set but any circle die of approximately 3 ½ inches should work. Die cut. Also cut a piece of acetate using the larger circle. Attach the acetate to the reverse of the sentiment using red liner tape. Add the foam tape to the reverse.

Step 5:

Cut a circle in white card using the circle die – this will be the back of the shaker. Place your sequin in the centre of the circle and after removing the backing of the foam tape add the sentiment circle. Press to ensure fully attached

Step 6:

To make the sentiment circle pop you need a little spring. To make this cut a piece of card 1 x 3 inches. Score along the long side at  ½ / 1/2/ 2 ½ . Fold as shown.

Step 7:

Attach the pop up section to the base by gluing the outer triangles in place. Add the spring to the centre fold – ensure it straddles the centre score line. Attach the shaker topper.

Thank you so much for a super project Mary.

Remember everyone, if you decide to give this a go don't forget to share your make in the group.  I know Mary for one would love to see your makes.

Claire's link for You Tube isn't quite ready yet, so I will add that on Friday for you although I am sure Claire will post the link into the Crafting with Lisa Horton group as soon as it is available anyway.

So, enjoy Lisa's shows and have a go at Mary's project.

See you all soon.

LATE ON PARADE!

 Hello you lovely lot

Well, what can I say, I'm a day late putting up this post and I can only apologise.

I got sidetracked yesterday morning and it went clean out of my head!

So, albeit a day late, let's get on to what's happening in Lisa Horton Crafts land this week shall we?

If you didn't manage to catch my live yesterday at 1pm then here is the link for you to be able to watch the edited version over on our You Tube channel.

If you did join me you will be pleased to know that my darling husband is still able to walk and has no bruises (that show!) Lol
Honestly, what is it with men and their DIY?
He said when I discussed it with him (obviously I mean yelled at him, lol) was..... wait for it........
"I didn't think you would be able to hear me from inside the house!"
How he thought we wouldn't be able to hear the electric saw with all the windows open is beyond me but that's a bloke's logic for you!!
He is now under threat of actual physical harm if he does it again!! Time will tell eh?

Claire did her live earlier today which was very informative as usual and I will pop a link in for that tomorrow.

Our fabulous Lisa is back on your TV screens tomorrow 7th September and Thursday 8th September (hopefully) with another fabulous release.
Show times are:
Wednesday: 4pm and 7pm for a 2 hour show
Thursday: 8am (stock permitting)

Now I know you have seen the fabulous new layering stencils and all the brilliant DT samples in the group so you all know what to expect.  I just know this will be a sellout show as it is something you have all been asking for for quite some time now.  So, I hope you enjoy the shows and I hope you get what you want.  I know that the combinations on TV don't always suit everyone but rest assured if you don't get what you want on TV then stock will also be available on Lisa's own website - www.thatcraftplace.co.uk 14 days after the date of TV release.
Here are just a few of the awesome DT samples:

Aren't they just fabulous?
Do we or do we not have THE best Design Team in the World?
Oh Yes - We Do!!

Lastly, voting is still open in the Crafts Beautiful awards until the end of September.
I know that many of you will have already voted for all your favourites, but just in case you haven't - or you know someone else who hasn't - here is the link for you.  Thank you for those who have already voted.
I'm keeping everything crossed for Lisa and Danny - they SO deserve some recognition for what they have achieved in such a short space of time, and through a pandemic at that!!

So that's it for now peeps.
I'll be back tomorrow with a link for Claire's edited version of her live from YouTube and don't forget, it's project Wednesday and this week we have a cheeky little project from the lovely Mary Kelly.

See you tomorrow.

FABULOUS FRIDAY

 Good morning all

I can't believe we are in September already, can you?

Where does the time go to these days?  I feel like no sooner is it Christmas than it's Easter, then it is August then we are back to Christmas!! Do you find that too or is it just me?

When I was a kid, I couldn't wait for the six week summer break - it just seemed to go on forever.  These days I dread it lol!!  Then again, the time does seem to go quite quickly.  I mean I can't believe the children are back at school next week! (Yaaay!)

I hope you have been able to watch my video from yesterday using the Layering Twisted Stripes stencils?

If not, here is a link for the edited version on our You Tube channel.  You can watch that at your leisure.

Now obviously it is Friday and that means a live with our lovely Lisa at 7pm as usual.

I know she is using the ink pads tonight but I also know she has something a little bit special to share too!  My lips are sealed - you will just have to come and watch! Lol

Of course you can always watch on our You Tube channel if you would prefer, link below.

Don't forget to like and share if you can, as Lisa always has a fabulous giveaway for one lucky follower.

Well, I think that's all I have for you for today.

Oh yes, one last thing.
Voting closes at the end of this month for the Best of Crafts Awards 2022 so if you haven't voted already (or you have only voted once - you can vote up to five times with the same email address - just sayin' lol) - please consider clicking the link below to vote.
Thank you in advance!

Right, that really is all I have for you today.
So, see you tonight at 7pm, don't be late now!
