THE QUEEN

 Good morning everyone.

What a truly sad day yesterday turned out to be.  Had anyone told me that I would be sitting in floods of tears in the early evening mourning the passing of our glorious Queen - well you just wouldn't think it would you?

I have only ever known our Queen as our Monarch and what a truly remarkable lady she was.  She performed her duties like the true servant she said she would be all those years ago following the death of her beloved father.

I heard many tributes yesterday but I've got to be honest and say the one that I found most moving was that from Boris Johnson who said "it is only when we face the reality of our loss that we truly understand what has gone.  It is only really now that we grasp how much she meant for us, how much she did for us, how much she loved us.  We had come to believe, like children, that she would just go on and on"  If you haven't read his statement, I think you should.  He may not be everyone's cup of tea and yes he has made some awful mistakes but he is human like the rest of us and his words were spoken from the heart - in my humble opinion.

A sad day indeed - the passing of a Monarch, of a Mother, a Grandmother, a Great Grandmother and a truly remarkable woman - the like of whom I don't ever think we will see again.

Rest in Peace Your Majesty - your Service is done now.

💗💗💗💗

If like us, you were deeply affected by the news of the Queen's passing you will, I hope, understand that Lisa has decided to cancel tonight's live as a mark of respect not only for the Queen but for her whole family.

Whether you are a Royalist or not we feel that this is the right decision and we hope you understand.

  1. You summed it up perfectly Dawn. Her loss is deeply felt by her people. She did her duty as promised to the end by inviting her new Prime Minister. What a role model she was and will Continue to be. I read the statement by Boris Johnson and I think he got it spot on.

  4. I know for quite awhile I was waiting for this painful news, she hasnt looked well for quite awhile, both hubby and I have been punched with the actual death of a very dear lady who we have respected and loved. Its going to be difficult not having her part of our lives, sleep well dear lady and be with your soul mate and the rest of your family. And yes she was amazing lady and only once in her reign did we wonder if she had done right over Diana's death, but she has always done everything with grace and never complained in public.xxxx

  5. Oh Dawn I had those tears too as I suppose many of us did. I thought of my mother as she so loved the Queen. Such a sad sad time in our lives. I too have only ever known our Queen Elizabeth second as the monarch. She has touched many hearts in our life time both nationally and internationally. She will always stay with us who have been around in her time.
Might I say I totally agree with you regarding Boris Johnson’s speech, so rightly put and couldn’t have put it better. The best he’s ever spoken.
Thank you Dawn for a most touching blog
Here’s to her majesty may she rest in peace with her dear beloved husband Prince Phillip

  6. A lovely tribute to the most hardworking and constant monarch this country has ever known. We all know the loss felt by her family and hopefully the respect a lot of us had for the Queen will help them in their time of grief. She made a promise to this nation and kept it right to the end. God bless Queen Elizabeth II. Su Robson
