Edgecutz Mini Album by Paul

Hello all. It’s me, Paul, back with you today. 

For those that follow me online, you’ll know I love dies and mini books so here I combined the two crafting joys in one. I have used the Butterfly Flourish as my inspiration for this album.

My card today features the lovely Wings and Things stamp set!  I absolutely LOVE this set!  The detail on the butterfly wings is so beautiful!

Instead of creating a butterfly with the set, I decided to use one of the wings to create a fun background:

I love how it turned out!  The stamped wings look so pretty on Lisa's paper!! I used a piece of paper from the Capri Paper Pad!!  Such beautiful paper!!

Here is a look at my stamping process:

 I slightly lined up the 'wing' so that it would touch the previously stamped wing.  I like how the design then looks like it is all connected!

It creates such a fun background, in my opinion!!

As I am writing this post I'm thinking, I absolutely love stamping on Lisa's beautiful paper, but image stamping these wings on a piece of white paper and then coloring the wings in with bright colors to create a fun bright and colorful background!

  I used the Just Saying - Be Happy stamp set for my sentiment.  I love the font used on these sentiments!!

The added little die cut butterfly is from the the Butterfly Flourish Die Set!

Tina's mad about flowers

Hi everyone, thank you for joining me for my latest blog post. 
You may have noticed that I really love to make 3d flower boxes.  They can look so different depending on the flower shapes you choose and the endless possibilities with colour variations. They fold flat for posting and are guaranteed to bring a smile to the recipient!

This particular flower box was featured in the last issue of Die Cutting Essentials (issue 64). If you didn't see it, here are my instructions on constructing the box and the flowers using Lisa's lovely products.

 

 To make the flower box, take a sheet of 300gsm card - this will make sure your box is nice and sturdy. Place the card in landscape position and score from top to bottom at 7cm, 14cm, 21cm and 28cm. Next, turn the card to portrait position, and with the narrow score line at the top, score down the middle of the card at 10.5cm, but stop on the last score line. This will ensure the back of the box stays in the upright position. Now cut along the 7,14,21 and 28cm score lines to the middle score line only. Cut off the narrow section to the central score line on the same side as your cuts. Leave the other side of the narrow section in place, as this will form the tab to connect your box together. 

Next you can fold along your score lines to form your flower box. Use red liner tape on your tab as it’s nice and strong, then attach it to the inside of the back of the box. Cut 3 pieces of card 8.5cm x 2.5cm to make the tabs to hold the flower stems in place.  Score and fold at 1cm on each end, add red liner tape to these ends and place at equal distances across the middle of the box opening. 
TIP Each time you stick a tab in, fold your box flat one way and then the other way to achieve a nice flat fit. 

To decorate the box flaps I've used Lisa Horton's Nested Flags die set. The base flag has been cut from American Crafts card and the smaller has been cut from Lisa Horton's beautiful Capri papers. I've used Cosmic Shimmer glue throughout this project. 

Next cut a selection of flowers in various colours. You can use one flower or several to form layers and add depth to your project as I have. The flowers have been cut from Lisa Horton's Daisy Burst Edgecutz die set. Stick the layers together using foam pads to add further dimension. The flower centre circles are actually the waste from Lisa Horton's In the Loop Edgecutz dies. 

Make the stems with your 300gsm card - cut strips of just under 1cm (I added some green paper, but you could colour them if you wish). Attach the flowers to the stems with glue. 
TIP Place your stem between two flowers to give a neat look front and back and place the stems one at a time in the desired position on the bars. 
TIP Make sure you fold the box flat each way to make sure the flowers don't stick out of the sides in the flat position.

I've added dimensional butterflies in different sizes from Lisa Horton's Butterfly Flourish Edgecutz dies and popped them in various positions on the box flaps. 
TIP I wound some thread around the 3 butterfly layers and stuck down the bottom butterfly only.  I've added a little finishing touch of sisal from Lisa Horton which just sits between the bars in the box.

Beautiful Layout

I thought it would be super fun to show you how Lisa's products are great for scrapbooking!!

I absolutely LOVE the new Mini Banner Alphabet die set!  It's a perfect die set to create your own sentiments, so in this case a title for my layout:

 I decided to create the word 'beautiful' to go along with the lovely photo of my daughter!

I also used the lovely In The Loop Die twice on this layout!  I thought it would add a nice accent to the page!  I kept some of the circles from the border, so that I could add them randomly back in the border and outside of it to add more interest!  I love the look!!  I also added a few rhinestones!!

I used the Nested Flags die set to create the light purple flags!  I love the size of these flags!  Perfect for scrapbooking!!

I also used the Nested Banners die set to create this grouping of three banners:

Which I then added some lovely die cut butterflies from the Butterfly Flourish Die Set!

I absolutely love how this layout turned out!!  So fun!!

Nested Flag Card

I am so excited to share this project with you today using Lisa Horton Crafts products!

I am so excited for the fun new products!!

Here is a look at one of the first cards I made with some of the new products:

I love how it turned out!!

I used the new Nested Flags to create the fun shaped card base! Along with a few more layers!  The first layer was die cut from a piece of white cardstock!  I really liked the added white flag layer!  The next layer I die cut from a piece of new paper from the Bali Paper!! (I love the paper in this collection!!)  I cut another layer the same size from a piece of paper from the new Capri Paper, but trimmed some of the flag from the top and bottom, as I just waned half the piece, but still wanted the stitching on the side!  I put it on a purple matt.

Next I placed some fun Natural Sisal!! I have honestly never used this stuff and am now absolutely addicted to it!! It adds such a nice touch to projects!!  I love it!!  

Next, I added two Nested Banners, one from purple cardstock and one from a piece of Capri Paper!

I am in love with the new Mini Banner Alphabet set!  There are so many amazing possibilities with this die set!!  I could die cut sentiments all day!!  For this card I decided to add 'HI"!  I die cut the 'H' and 'I' from white cardstock and placed above silver glitter paper die cut banners.   I love that there is the added stitching on these tiny banners!! So cute!!

I die cut a few butterfly layers from the EdgeCutz Die - Butterfly Flourish set and added to the banners.

I finished the card off by adding s few flowers!  I used the new Four Point Blooms stamp set and coordinating Four Point Bloom Dies!  I stamped the flowers on vellum and embossed with a white embossing powder.  I then finished them off by adding some Mermaid Tails to the center!!

Butterfly Hugs & Kisses

Hi Im Claire Newcombe (aka Creative Makings) and back today with an effective stamping technique for you.

I have used one of the Butterflies from the EDGEcutz Butterfly Flourish DL stamp set, and one of the beautiful papers that are due to make their debut in Lisa's next Create and Craft Show on 28th February.

1. Start my making some masks of the largest butterfly, by die cutting some post-it notes. Use these and utilise the sticky strip to keep them in place.....however Lisa is due to release her very own reusable masking sheets, so keep an eye open for that because they are brilliant to use.

2. Here you can see I have cut 4 masks, make sure you have plenty.Its very easy to cut more as you need them. The die is from the coordinating EDGEcutz Butterfly Flourish die set

3. Begin by stamping in the centre of the page and work your way out towards the edges, where you will eventually begin stamping off the page. 

Cover each butterfly as you stamp it, so that you can stamp the next butterfly and overlap.

Only remove the sticky mask when you are not stamping next to that image. 

4.  I am stamping onto Lisa's own design papers (coming soon) because I loved the dreamy effect the colours made - it meant that I didn't need to colour the butterflies, only highlight them.

This technique could easily be done on plain stamping card if you wanted to create a page for yourself to sit and colour.

5. Die cut a shape from the centre, mat & layer onto complimentary cardstock and replace back into the centre on 3D foam pads.

Mat the whole sheet onto black card before fixing to the front of a card blank.

 6. I have highlighted the central panel by adding some shading to the butterflies with colour pencils. You could add glitter or even glossy accents.

Ive also die cut one of the detailed butterflies (from the EDGEcutz Butterfly Flourish die set) as a three 3D element along with the sentiment.

I can't wait for you to see the beautiful papers that Lisa has designed. Their quality is second to none, and take ink brilliantly...whether its stamping, shading or blending.

Hi there I'm Claire Newcombe (aka Creative Makings), and am so pleased to welcome you to Lisa Horton's Craft blog.

I have long been a fan of Lisa's designs and am excited to be on the design team and create the inspiration to help launch the amazing products that are on their way to you.

My passion is as a stamper first and foremost and love to create inky stamped collages, and then hopefully to provide you with the confidence to have a go yourself.

My first project is using Lisa's first stamp releases

Choose 3 or 4 colours ranging from light to dark that compliment each other. The aim when layering stamped images is to use the paler colours first, working towards the last (top) layer being your darkest and most prominent images.

1. Create the backdrop by inking through a stencil with your lightest colour. I have used the floral stencil that was available exclusively in Lisa's first shows on the 20th January. 

(Don't worry if you missed one, there will more exclusives to come LOL!)

2. Use the same ink. or a tonal one and stamp the small accent pattern stamps randomly over the stencilled backdrop. 

3. Select a complimentary colour, and stamps that will add interest to the collage. in my example I have introduced a new shape along with the change in ink colour.

These techniques really allow you to make the most of the accessory stamps included in the set. Include the words also as a pattern building tool.

4. Stamp the main stamp image in your your statement colour. Here I have taken the largest circle stamp and stamped in bold blue over the layered background I've already created.

Remember that you don't always have to use the whole image. You can see I have masked off probably half the stamp with post it notes before inking, because it was too large to fit the project I was making.

5. Select and randomly stamp a couple of the larger accessory designs in your darkest ink colour. This adds to the layering and dimension. 

Probably best not to over do this layer, because it could swamp the focal point and look cluttered.  

It is of course depend entirely on the designs you are using, there is no hard and fast rule.

6. The final layer is usually the sentiment, and I like to stamp it in black. I like the crisp contrast against the design that really makes it stand out. 

I also like to stamp the wording directly onto my project, and find a stamping platform invaluable, as it gives me the confidence that I won't ruin my work. You can of course stamp the wording onto a separate piece, then mat and layer onto your card. Again it's all about personal choice.

7. Finally, I chose one sheet of the Lisa's fantastic new designer paper pads, to mat and layer my work onto , and accent by die cutting a couple of the individual EDGEcutz butterflies.
