Distressed Postcards

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog post.
Today I'm going to be using Lisa's postcard background stamp as the main focus of a pretty card which would
be suitable for so many occasions.
You will need:
Lisa Horton sisal
Lisa Horton Luxury Pearls - Rainbow Collection Cool Skies
Stamperia Roses and Laces paper
Distress Oxide inks (or your preference)
Paperclip and lace (optional)
Start by stamping the postcard twice onto some cream card. Holding the stamped image, tear the card edges
towards you to reveal the core of the card on all sides. Next, use your inks to colour those edges - front and back
as you will be curling the edges up.  Use Distress Oxides (old paper and just a touch of vintage photo) to give a
vintage feel to your project. I decided to make the postcard underneath darker with a touch of salty ocean
Distress Ink. Curl the bottom right corners by rolling them around a pencil.
Next I used a portion of 1 sheet of Stamperia Roses and Laces paper pack. I tore the edges and inked them
the same as the postcards.

Mount the backing paper onto a cream card and tape the postcards on top. I added a heart shaped paperclip
(from my stash) too.
Stamp your trailing foliage and colour the leaves with ink. Use a brown pencil/pen to darken the stems and then
cut out your images. (I stamped 2 of the smaller sections).  Slightly curl the edges of the leaves to add a more
realistic look and then use 3d foam to attach to the edge of the postcard. Remember to only glue the leaves at
the top if your flowers are going to sit in that area.

Take a little sisal and attach with glue in the area that your flowers will sit. Die cut your flowers - I usually cut 3 for
each one to add dimension. Layer them up with 3d foam. I used Lisa's newest collection of hombre pearls to give
a beautiful finishing touch to the daisies, and added a little paper lace from my stash too.

Hope you've enjoyed making this project with me. Feel free to comment on my post should you wish to do so.

Stay safe and happy crafting!

Tina's mad about flowers

Hi everyone, thank you for joining me for my latest blog post.
You may have noticed that I really love to make 3d flower boxes.  They can look so different depending on the flower shapes you choose and the endless possibilities with colour variations. They fold flat for posting and are guaranteed to bring a smile to the recipient!

This particular flower box was featured in the last issue of Die Cutting Essentials (issue 64). If you didn't see it, here are my instructions on constructing the box and the flowers using Lisa's lovely products.

To make the flower box, take a sheet of 300gsm card - this will make sure your box is nice and sturdy. Place the card in landscape position and score from top to bottom at 7cm, 14cm, 21cm and 28cm. Next, turn the card to portrait position, and with the narrow score line at the top, score down the middle of the card at 10.5cm, but stop on the last score line. This will ensure the back of the box stays in the upright position. Now cut along the 7,14,21 and 28cm score lines to the middle score line only. Cut off the narrow section to the central score line on the same side as your cuts. Leave the other side of the narrow section in place, as this will form the tab to connect your box together.

Next you can fold along your score lines to form your flower box. Use red liner tape on your tab as it’s nice and strong, then attach it to the inside of the back of the box. Cut 3 pieces of card 8.5cm x 2.5cm to make the tabs to hold the flower stems in place.  Score and fold at 1cm on each end, add red liner tape to these ends and place at equal distances across the middle of the box opening.
TIP Each time you stick a tab in, fold your box flat one way and then the other way to achieve a nice flat fit.
To decorate the box flaps I've used Lisa Horton's Nested Flags die set. The base flag has been cut from American Crafts card and the smaller has been cut from Lisa Horton's beautiful Capri papers. I've used Cosmic Shimmer glue throughout this project.
Next cut a selection of flowers in various colours. You can use one flower or several to form layers and add depth to your project as I have. The flowers have been cut from Lisa Horton's Daisy Burst Edgecutz die set. Stick the layers together using foam pads to add further dimension. The flower centre circles are actually the waste from Lisa Horton's In the Loop Edgecutz dies.

Make the stems with your 300gsm card - cut strips of just under 1cm (I added some green paper, but you could colour them if you wish). Attach the flowers to the stems with glue.
TIP Place your stem between two flowers to give a neat look front and back and place the stems one at a time in the desired position on the bars.
TIP Make sure you fold the box flat each way to make sure the flowers don't stick out of the sides in the flat position.

I've added dimensional butterflies in different sizes from Lisa Horton's Butterfly Flourish Edgecutz dies and popped them in various positions on the box flaps.
TIP I wound some thread around the 3 butterfly layers and stuck down the bottom butterfly only.  I've added a little finishing touch of sisal from Lisa Horton which just sits between the bars in the box.

Flower Power

Hi everyone
Thanks for popping in to the blog today.

Today I am showing you a very simple, quick to make card which (I think) looks really effective.

So what do you need:
Ink pad colour of your choice

My card base is 7 x 7 inches so the three pieces of card need to be 6 x 6, 5 x 5 and 4 x 4.
I chose to use the two largest flowers and then the next size down.

Randomly stamp all around the edge of the cards, using the smaller set of flowers on the top piece of card.  Then go around the edge of each piece of card with a Sharpie Pen.  This is a quick way of making a matted and layered look rather than sticking it to pieces of darker card, which of course you could also do.

I stamped out the three sizes of polka dot flowers and then cut them out using the matching Dies.

Then I cut out the smallest and middle size banners and cut them down to the size I needed.  Layered them up and then added a phrase from the wordage sheets.

Finishing touch was to add a pearl to the middle of the die cut flower and attach it to the nested banner/sentiment.

You can find all these gorgeous products at

We also have boards on Pinterest where you can see the gorgeous DT makes along with some from our followers.

So, that's it for now.  See you all soon.
Happy Crafting.

Butterfly Flourish Easel Card

Wishing everyone a very good morning and hope you are all managing
to keep yourselves busy.

Here is a post to hopefully inspire you to
carry on crafting with Lisa’s amazing products.
For this project I have used - EDGEcutz Collection – Butterfly
Flourish, Mermaid Tails – Lilac Sea and Turquoise Tails and Be Happy
Sentiments DL Stamp Set
300gsm white cardstock, double side adhesive paper and lilac and
turquoise inks or paints are also required.
I used an 18cm x 13cm (7” x 5”) blank white card and trimmed to
16cm before folding the front vertically in half.
Cut a piece of white card 16.5cm x 6.5cm, stamp the ‘Be the reason..’
verse to the right side and attach with 3d foam tape to the inside
edge of the card.

Cut 4 x 9cm x 9cm pieces of white card and colour two pieces with
lilac and two with turquoise inks or paints or use coloured cardstock
if you have some. Cover each piece with double sided adhesive
paper, (do not remove the top layer at this point) and die cut two
large single butterflies and three tiny from lilac. One of each from
turquoise. Two medium one small and one tiny from turquoise.
Remove the top layer from the adhesive sheet and sprinkle lilac sea
mermaid tales onto the lilac butterflies and the turquoise rose tails
onto the turquoise ones. Rub into the adhesive and remove any
excess back into the pots.

Die cut the butterfly edge from a piece of white card 18cm x 12cm
Die cut the outer edge die from a piece of white card 18cm x 8cm.
Glue the medium sized butterflies in place before attaching the
fancy cut edge on top. Attach the whole piece to the front fold of
the easel card and trim off the excess card.

Die cut three large and one small single butterfly from white card
and attach to the corresponding coloured butterflies. Attach two of
the tiny butterflies to each end. Place one of the lilac butterflies to
the centre of the butterfly edge, place the turquoise one just to the
right of it at a right angle. Stamp ‘May your day…’ sentiment to the
left.

Arrange the remaining large and small butterflies to the left of the
‘be the reason’ sentiment and two of the tiny one’s to the right.
Embellish the bodies with pearls.
Have a good day,

Sue xx

Using Edge Cutz Dies as a frame.

Hi all
Dawn here, just popping in to show you how I used my Butterfly edgecutz die to create a frame on a card. (You can find this on Lisa's shop website here).

Lisa's dies cut beautifully and this one is no exception.
I cut the die four times in navy blue card and then cut the single large butterfly four times in cream card.
I always think cream and navy go together so well don't you?

So the four navy die cuts were trimmed and joined together to make a square frame.
Then I added the four individual butterfly die cuts on top of the navy and used a bit of Pinflair glue to give them a bit of dimension.
So because I wanted this to make a frame I cut off the little butterfly on the end of the die and used the straight edge as the main part of my frame.

Now obviously when you join four pieces of card together this way there is going to be an obvious joint.  In order to cover that up I used the tiny butterfly and die cut four to add to each corner.

Then I used one of Lisa's gorgeous Let's Be Happy stamps which are also available on the shop website here.  This is a gorgeous set of stamps with some beautiful quotes, so useful for so many different occasions.

To finish off I used Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink and brushed each corner of the card.  Now the only thing I would say is be careful what card you use.  This had a grain on it, not much but enough to spoil the brushed ink effect. (Well for me anyway).

So I hope you like the card.  It just goes to show that you don't need to be afraid of cutting into the dies and using just certain parts of them.  The same can be said for any of Lisa's dies really.  They work so beautifully either way.

Remember we have boards on Pinterest - just search Lisa Horton Crafts and you should get plenty of hits.  We also have our wonderful facebook group - Crafting with Lisa Horton, where we have introduced our monthly challenge.  Different theme each month chosen by one of the Design Team and the prize will be something that Design Team member has made just for our winner.  Trust me when I say that this month's prize, made by the wonderful Erin, is GAWJUSS Darling!!

Lisa will be back on your telebox on March 25th on Create and Craft with some more brilliant designs.  You won't want to miss it.
