PROJECT WEDNESDAY - SOMEONE SPECIAL

Good morning lovely people.

I hope your week is going well?

I had a lovely little visit from my grandchildren on Monday after they had finished school.  It is always a joy to see them and they lift my spirits no end.  They stayed and had some tea before Mummy had to drive home in the fog!!  I am sure they came to see me because they love their Nannie and Grandad - not because Nannie always buys Advent Calendars for them all.  Lol.  I even buy one for Amie and one for her partner.  Amie usually has a calendar with waxes in, you know the ones you burn to make the house smell nice, but she said she has loads of waxes and didn't need any more so this year she has had a Lindt one and Mark, her partner had a Toblerone one (mind you he nearly didn't get it because I LOVE Toblerone, lol)

Nobody ever buys me an Advent Calendar though! Ah well, I don't need the extra calories I suppose. Hahaha.

***

So, onto business.

Here is the link to the edited version of my live in case you missed it.

I will be live in the group at 1pm as usual on Thursday so I hope you can join me.

Remember that Lisa is live on Create and Craft on Thursday and Friday of this week.

I did put times in the blog post on Monday but just as a little reminder here they are again:
Thursday 1st December
4pm and 8pm
Friday 2nd December
8am
Bonus, she is on with the ever lovely Nigel May.  I always look forward to Lisa's shows on TV but never more so than when she is on with Nigel.  They just go together so well don't they?

 ***

Wednesday again and that means another fabulous project.

This week's project is from the lovely Maria Moorhouse.

YOU WILL NEED
Ornamental Lattice die set
Bold phrases die set
Foliage elements embossing folder and die set
Crazy paint embossing folder
Bronze and Copper waxes
Flat brush
Scoreboard
Black card
Gold card
Various neutral card

Use the large outside edge cutting die from the ornamental lattice set and cut from a piece of neutral card. Score in half and emboss one half with the crazy paint folder, this is now your base card.

Cut a lattice and back panel from different coloured card.

Stick the lattice and back layer together and secure onto your embossed base card.

Use the foliage element set to cut and emboss two pieces of Ivy in black card. Spread a small amount of the waxes on a craft sheet, pick up tiny amounts at a time with a flat brush and brush backwards and forwards across the Ivy.

Cut two more pieces of Ivy from gold card, stick the black pieces over the gold and offset very slightly so you can just see a little of the gold.

Use the someone special dies to cut a gold sentiment and black back layer, stick together.

Secure the Ivy and sentiment to the card.

What a fabulous project.  Thank you Maria.
Remember to share your makes in the group if you decide to give this a go folks.

So, we are fast getting through the team now, but today we are getting to know a little bit more about the lovely Mary Thomsen.

How many jobs did you have before you found your Dream job?

21 - I tried many! One was lasting 10 minutes.

Then I got a job as a Home Help in the community which I really loved, making a difference to someone else’s life is so much more rewarding than doing a mundane job.

I obtained my NVQ level 3 and stayed in this job for 37 years and cried when I had to give it up.

FABULOUS FRIDAY

 Good morning.

I hope you are all having a great week so far, despite the weather?

Isn't it grey and miserable?  I really don't like the winter months.  I do love to watch the snow but only if I don't have to go out in it and I can sit inside in the warm and just watch it fall.  Hubby still gets annoyed if someone drives down the road and "spoils our snow" Lol.  Honestly, he is worse than the grandchildren. Lol

If you missed Claire's live from Tuesday then here's the link to the edited version on YT.

And, if you missed mine from yesterday, here's the link to mine.

***
Well, it's Friday and you know what that means don't you?
Yes, Lisa's Friday night live tonight at 7pm

Have you all been and commented on the video on You Tube that Lisa mentioned last Friday night, to be in with a chance of winning a fabulous prize?  You've got to be in it to win it and remember, it doesn't matter where in the world you live, your name could still be drawn.

So here are your viewing options for later:

Remember, when we ask you to share, we need you to share as far and wide as possible (without getting into any trouble, lol)  So share on your page, in any groups you are in (if they allow it) and anywhere else you can think of.  The more people that join in the better.
I cannot believe that in less than three years we have exceeded 12k members in our group.

Can you imagine how busy it would be if all those 12k+ members shared their makes in the group! Eeeeek.

So, that's your lot for today folks.
See you later at Lisa's place.

PROJECT WEDNESDAY - BUNTING

 Hello all.
Well, what a busy little bee our Lisa is!!
Two hours on Craft Extra with Paula and then an hour with the lovely Dan Bancroft and then an hour with the fabulous Martyn Parker.
Doesn't that Concentric Square embossing folder look fabulous?
Then today she had a show at 8am with the brilliant Janice Phillips.
After all of that she is doing another two hours on Craft Extra with Adam Humphreys.
Gosh, I'm exhausted for her! Lol.

So, I have an apology to make.  I haven't had a chance to edit my video from Monday's live yet.  Not only have I had my own personal workman back in my craft room but that workman is now in my bad books because he knocked all my nicely sorted gems off the unit in my craft room and they went absolutely everywhere.  So I had to sit and pick them all up and then sort them out.  Miriam said she would have made him pick them up but as I pointed out to her - I need it doing properly, Lol.  It took me forever.
I promise I will get to the video editing today.

***
So with it being Wednesday we have another fabulous Project for you.  The lovely Mary Kelly made this gorgeous bunting, which you may have seen on TV.  So here she is showing you how to make your own version.

Alphabet Bunting

You will need:
LHC Nested Stitched Flag die set
LHC Ultimate 3d Coordinating Alphabet dies
LHC Ribbons and Bows Dies
LHC Stitched Letter dies
LHC Padded Quilt embossing folder
LHC Butterflies EF and dies
Cream card – 300gsm
Black card – 300gsm
Die cutting machine
Scissors
Cropodile or hole punch
Ribbons/cord
Pokey tool
Glue

Step 1: Count the number of letters in your message – consider adding a decorative flag at either end and a connecting one in the centre. Using the largest die from the nested stitched flag set cut the number of flags you need.

Step 2: Cut the letters in cream and black and glue the black layer to the back of the cream to create a shadow effect.

Step 3: Lay your letters out aiming to keep them central on each flag.

Step 4: I decided to add a decorative flag at either end of the banner. I cut the middle and the next smallest hearts in cream and black. I embossed the smaller    one and layered them up for interest. I also added a black and cream bow.

Step 5: I also added a central flag to link the names as my bunting was for a wedding. I used the stitched alphabet in cream with a black layer behind. I also added a bow to the top of the flag.

Step 6:To create the holes for your ribbon/cord punch about 1cm from the top – I used an office puncher as it was the perfect size but a Cropodile would also work. You may want to mark with a pencil before punching to get them all the same.

Step 7: Cut and emboss a butterfly in cream – I used one for every lettered flag in my bunting. I also cut a plain black non-embossed butterfly to layer them. Add each butterfly making sure you are nowhere near the holes you have made – try to alternate  the placing to add interest.

Step 8:
Now you are ready to thread through your ribbon/cord. Place the flags in the order you wish them to appear. Start from the end and thread front to back. Secure the ribbon/cord at the back on each flag with tape. Hang your bunting ready for the celebration!

How fabulous is that?  Personally for me I would use the ampersand in the middle but that's just me.  I think this is a fabulous idea and would be great for any sort of party, wedding, engagement or even New Year.  The world is your oyster as they say.

So, that's your lot for today.
I'll see you back here on Friday and hopefully I will have both edited videos from myself and Claire to add to that post.

Just before I go - is there anything you would like to see on the blog as a regular feature?
We are fast coming to the end of the Meet the Team feature (well we have a few weeks yet but it will soon come round, lol).

MONDAY MUSINGS

 Good morning lovely people.

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend after watching Lisa's live on Friday night.

What do we all think of the new goodies then?  Aren't they fabulous?

I can honestly say that the 3D Embossing Folders from Lisa Horton Crafts are second to NONE!  The depth of the embossing is out of this world, but then I don't really need to tell you that now do I?

Well, remember what I told you about using two monitors?

My amazing husband (yeah I know I haven't always called him that, lol) spent yesterday attaching said monitors to two arms so that they weren't sitting on my desk.  I now have soooo much space on my desk I feel all posh. Lol.  Seriously though, it is amazing just how much desk space it has given me.  Now I can sit and write stuff at the same time as using the computer and I can have different things on each screen.  It is soooooo much more efficient.  Just need to tidy the wires up behind the monitors and it is all finished.  He says we can never move now because it took him so long. 😂😂

***

Righto, let's look at what we have got on this week then shall we?

Monday 21 Nov. 1pm

I will be live in the CWLH group and I will be using the fabulous new goodies so I hope you can come and join me.

Tuesday 22 Nov

First off she is on Craft Extra 1pm and 2pm
Then she is on the main channel with a New & Exclusive at 4pm & 8pm

Claire will also be live in the CWLH group at 2pm - so you can watch Claire with one eye and Lisa with the other! Lol

Wednesday 23 Nov

Lisa is back for an early start on the main channel at 8am with whatever (if anything) is left from the New & Exclusive show.
Then at 10am she is back on Craft Extra and will follow on at 11am too.

Remember that we stream Lisa's shows to the front page of her website so if all else fails, you can watch it there. 😉

Then all she has to do is drive home!! Lol.

Thursday 24 Nov
I will be live in the CWLH group at 1pm

Friday 25 Nov 7pm
Lisa will be doing her usual fabulous Friday night live at 7pm
Two giveaways as usual and remember because we have surpassed 12k members in the CWLH group if viewing figures reach 450 or more she will do a third, special giveaway.  So please share the live far and wide to be in with a chance of winning another fabulous prize.

FABULOUS FRIDAY

 Hi all

Well another week draws to a close and we are one more week nearer to the Festive period.  Notice I didn't use the "C" word, lol.

I wonder just how many people are actually going to cut back on Christmas this year?  I know I am.  Okay, so maybe not on the grandkids presents but definitely on what we buy in food wise.

It never ceases to amaze me what some people put in their trollies in the supermarkets in the run up to Christmas.  I stood in the queue behind a woman one year and when the cashier said £247.39 I nearly fell over!!  Okay so maybe she was having friends over or had a large family but that seemed an awful lot of money to me.

There is only ever Graham and I for Christmas Day and in years gone by I suppose we have been guilty of buying things "because it is Christmas" but those days have passed now.  We shall have a small meal as we usually do on a weekend but it won't be falling off the plate edge that's for certain. Lol

***

Anyhoo, let's get on shall we?

If you missed Claire's live on Tuesday, here is the link to the edited version on YT

If you missed my live yesterday, here is a link to the edited version on YT

***

So it is Friday once again and that means we are all meeting round at Lisa's place for her usual Friday Night Live.

Don't forget you can watch on several platforms:

Lisa Horton Crafts on YT

Lisa Horton Crafts on Facebook

Crafting with Lisa Horton Group on Facebook

I know there is loads to tell you and a sneaky peek at what is coming up on next week's Create and Craft shows on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Don't panic - it is only a small show, honestly.

So that's it for this week.

See you back here on Monday for another Meet the Team feature and all the details of what is coming up during the week.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone

PROJECT WEDNESDAY POP UP BOX CARD

Hi all
Hope your week is going well?
If you read the blog on Monday you will know that I was not a very happy bunny because my plans for a double screen for my computer were not going well.
I know I berate my hubby when he is drilling etc whilst I am doing a live on Facebook but I do have to say he doesn't like to be beaten.

So when things are not going well, he takes himself off, goes to You Tube and watches as many videos as is necessary for him to fathom out what he needs to do to get things working as required.

So, an extra piece of equipment and several You Tube videos later, he had another go and Woohoo Dawn is now a very happy bunny.  I now have two screens working in harmony and can do the jobs I need to do with a lot more ease.

So thank you to my husband, he's not a bad egg really. Lol.

***
If you missed my live on Monday here is the link for the edited version on our You Tube channel.
I just love how well Lisa's glitter card takes ink!  It is so satisfying and well worth giving it a go.

***
Of course, it is Wednesday and you all know by now that means a new project for you to try.
This week's project is from the lovely Natalia.

Pop up box with flowers for a special birthday.

·         Layering stencils & dies Build a flower

·         Layering stencils & dies Essential foliage

·         3D embossing folder Natural woodgrain

·         Bold phrases dies

·         Large stitched numbers

·         Glitter card

Cut card measuring 16cm by 24cm and score at 8cm and 16cm, turn the card and score at 7cm. Cut the folded lines to 7cm fold line.

Cut card measuring 10cm by 16cm, score on 10cm side at 1cm and 9cm. Turn and mark 7cm on both sides of the card, cut away on scored line up to 7cm mark                                                   at an angle.

Cut three strips measuring 2.5cm by 10cm and score on long side at 1cm and 9cm.

On the large scored card inside of card mark three dots with pencil on the left side. This is where the strips will go. Fold the scored lines on the strips Z shape, as shown below, and add strong tape to the edges.

Adhere the strips one cm from the fold starting with gluing the strips on one side first. Be sure the strips are parallel with the fold. Fold the card and adhere the strips on the other side of box. Fold again to be sure you can fold the box flat both ways.

So you should have a partly build box as shown in the image below.

Add the red tape to the card at the edges (card measuring 10cm by 16cm) This will be the back of the box.

Adhere the card to the box on one of the sides and secure.

Fold the box and secure the other side of the card to the box, so that it goes flat.

So you will have a box like this.

Emboss white card using Natural woodgrain embossing folder. Cut out for the box and adhere to the sides and for inside. Cut enough to cover each flap and each side of the box - 8 pieces in all.

Cut the number 60 and sentiments in glitter card and white card. Stencil and die cut the florals.

Cut thin strips of the acetate ( I used some from old packaging ) Add the red tape to the back of numbers which cut out of glitter card. Adhere the acetate to the back and cover with the number cut out from white card. Do the same for the other number.

This pop up box card fits 7x7 inches envelope. When adding the florals to the box be sure it doesn’t go higher than the box itself.

Here is the finished pop up box card.

Thank you so much Natalia.
What a gorgeous box card.  Who wouldn't love to receive something like this on a birthday or anniversary.  It's like a card and a present all rolled into one isn't it?

Remember, if you decide to give this a go, please share your make in the group as we do love to see them.

Right, that's your lot for today.

See you back here on Friday.
