FABULOUS FAST CRAFT FRIDAY

 Morning all

I hope you are all ok and coping with the dreaded white stuff??

I love to sit at home and watch the snow but I do hate going out in it.  It used to be my pet hate when I was at work because it was quite a walk from the car park to the office.  And on top of that it was all hilly so a tad treacherous too.  Still, these days I can sit and watch it.  My trusty Tesco delivery driver brought my shopping for me - I did feel a bit sorry for him to be honest, he was wet through and looked so cold.  Mind you I didn't feel that sorry for him - it saved me going out and braving the rain and the cold.  

So, I know soooo many of you ordered your goodies from the TV shows - my question is how on earth did you choose which bundle to go for or did you go for the big bundle?  As always Lisa has been blown away by your ongoing support.  It just means that she can go on creating these wonderful products for you all because you all believe in her.  I'm always amazed at what she comes up with and it feels brilliant that when I say "Wow, Lisa that's fabulous" - it's not just me saying it because you all say it by buying the product.  So thank you from myself and the whole Design Team, without you we wouldn't be having this much fun! Lol

Well, it's Fast Craft Friday so it is over to the lovely Maria Moorhouse for this week's project.

Thanks for joining me again, I decided on bit of stencilling this time, let’s jump straight in.

You will need

Layering stencils Camellia Cluster LHCAS019

Nested Scallop & plain circle dies LHCCD036

Banner sentiments LHCCD053

Nested stitched bubble square dies LHCCD053

Cloud 9 Matt blending inkpads, 

Margarita, Eucalyptus, Almond Frosting, Coral Beach, 

Antique Pink, Rhubarb Jam, Tree Bark.

Ink brushes

LHC Ultimate 

Stencil 1, a nice even layer of Margarita and a touch of Eucalyptus.

Stencil 2, lightly add Coral Beach to the areas in the picture above, and Antique pink as in the picture below.

For stencil 3, add a generous layer of Antique Pink and a touch of Rhubarb Jam for shade.

Stencil 4, a generous layer of Coral Beach, and add shade with a touch of Almond Frosting.

Back to the Antique Pink and Rhubarb Jam combo for stencil 5.

And for stencil 6, use Eucalyptus and Tree Bark.

After a little peek, I decided to add a touch of Almond Frosting to the tips of foliage with stencil 1.

Blend some of your ink colours around a large piece of card and die cut the large bubble square.

Secure this to a 8 inch card blank and add a piece of glitter card die cut with the largest stitched square.

Die cut your stencilled design using one of the large squares from the bubble square set, and then die cut 3 circles.

Lay your stencilled piece onto the glitter card, don’t stick it down yet, add glue and stick the circles down in the positions they were die cut.

Now raise the main piece on foam pads or strips and secure in place.

Add a sentiment, I had several left ready to use from last time I used the banner sentiments.

And stop the clock, I did think I was going to run out of time-20 minutes or less is the brief!

I actually wasted a minute trying to decide which colour sentiment, which do you prefer?

The finished piece, I hope you like!

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY - PROJECT DAY

 Good morning everyone

How's your week going?  Been doing anything nice?

I have been busy in my craft room having a massive (long overdue) sort out and am selling loads of stuff.  It's silly having it sitting on the shelf doing nothing isn't it?  They do say if you haven't used something in twelve months the chances are you never will.  Well, I haven't used this stuff for the last three years - now I wonder why that is?  Answers on a postcard! Lol

Seriously though, it is really therapeutic selling off stuff you don't use anymore and I am slowly beginning to see some extra space for storing my Lisa Horton stash properly.  I think I'll move on to the wardrobes next and get rid of the clothes we no longer wear too.

Well, it's Wednesday and you know what that means don't you?  That's right, it's project day here on the blog.  Today we have another jaw droppingly beautiful card from our lovely Mary Kelly so I'll hand you over to Mary.

Modern Florals Acetate Split Card

You will need:

Modern Floral Embossing Folder and Stencils
LHC Blending inks of choice - I used Cobblestones, Spiced Plum, Mossland Green and Sugar Candy
Ultimate
LHC Squiggly Sentiments or similar
Wonder Brushes
Red liner tape - 1/4 inch wide
Construction weight acetate
Pink card
White card
Trimmer
LHC Glue
Scoreboard
Die cutting machine

Step 1: Using the Ultimate and your inks create a panel using Modern Floral stencils and embossing folder.

Step 2: Cut the panel to create two strips 1 3/4 x 5 1/4 inches.

Step 3: : Take a sheet of A4 pale pink card stock and cut to 10 x 5 1/2 inches Score this piece of card along the long side at 6 inches. Fold and burnish. The front of the card will be 2 inches shorter than the back but we will use acetate to bridge the gap. 

Step 4: Cut 2 inches of the card front. Matt and layer with the stencilled strips we prepared in step2. 

Step 5: Cut a piece of construction weight acetate to 5 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches. Emboss with the Modern Florals embossing folder. Add red liner tape to the long edges of the acetate - I used 1/4inch tape. Attach to the card base as shown. Line up the separate panel with the card back and attach to the acetate. The 4th picture along shows what the inside of the card will look like.

Step 6: Prepare your sentiment - I wanted mine to cross the entire acetate panel so used the Happy Birthday from the squiggly sentiments. I cut mine in white and the same colour pink as the base card.  It is vital to use red liner tape to allow these to stick to the acetate. Your card is complete!

MARVELLOUS MONDAY

Good morning one and all.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

How gorgeous is the new release from Lisa eh?  That super cute little bird house, the boot, the narcissus and the marigold.  It's something a little bit different for Lisa and I think she has totally hit the nail on the head, don't you?

I told you that 2023 was going to be an awesome year didn't I?  It has started off with some pretty awesome releases and it's not going to stop there.  I can promise you that a lot of what you have been asking for is either in the building or in the pipeline.  I'm not saying any more, don't want to give away any secrets now do I? Lol.

The samples in the group from the DT have been simply outstanding and I think they have, once again, knocked it out of the park!  Way to go girls.

CARD OF THE MONTH

The lovely Maria Moorhouse chose this month's card and here is the simply beautiful card that she chose.

Here is what Maria said:

"I just kept going back and looking at this.  I love hydrangeas because the birds love hiding in them and I absolutely love how Leanne has used her pencils to spotlight how detailed the embossing folder is.  Love, love love!

So I messaged Leanne to let her know and asked her a few questions and here is what she had to say.

"Well, I'm absolutely delighted that my hydrangea card was chosen, how lovely and what a lovely surprise.

I love to work with a mixture of different mediums but one of my absolute favourites are my pastel pencils.  I do love all flowers particularly freesias for their beautiful scent.  I do love to work in tones of purples and blues so the hydrangea suited my style very well but I often branch out in to all sorts of strange colourways. From the moment I saw the hydrangea I thought that it was particularly beautiful and a very clever embossing folder.  My future aspirations would be to continue with my experimental style trying new ways of using different mediums with different products and watching what emerges!  I don't always do the "normal" with what I have but enjoy every moment experimenting with my goodies.  I so enjoyed making this hydrangea card, to sit in peace, just me, my pastel pencils and my Pastelmat cardstock was bliss and it's perfect for that little bit of "me time".  If you enjoy what you're doing, you'll see it in your final work."

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY - PROJECT DAY

Good morning all.

I hope you all enjoyed Lisa's shows on Monday and Tuesday?  Didn't all the samples look fabulous on the set?  So many different designs, different colours, different ideas and all from one simply stunning Record Breaking Box Kit.

It has sure taken the crafting to a whole new level, don't you think?

Thankfully Lisa's voice sounded so much better and I'm really pleased that she was able to get through four shows without it giving up on her.

Well, it is Wednesday and so that means another fantastic project for you to have a go at.

Today's project is from our lovely Lorraine.

Vellum Tea Light Holder

You will need
LH Modern Florals Box Kit
LH Mini Slimline Collection Harlequin Bubbles Die Set
Card
Red liner tape
Glue
Scoreboard
Trimmer
Ruler
Die cutting machine
Scissors
Optional buttons and twine

Step 1
Cut 2 pieces of patterned vellum 19cm x 14cm and score each piece along the long side at 9cm and 18cm. You now have two 9cm panels and a 1cm tab on each piece

Step 2
Place the Harlequin Bubble die centrally on one panel allowing a 1.5cm border around the die and die cut.
Repeat on the remaining three panels.

Step 3

This is how your patterned vellum should now look.
You also need 4 pieces of plain vellum measuring 7cm x 12cm

Step 4

Stick the plain vellum behind the bubble cut outs using thinly spread wet glue, you might want to score the panels again at the 9cm and 18 cm points for nice crisp folds when you assemble the box.
Step 5

Apply red liner tape along both 1cm tabs, stick both pieces together and fold along creases before sticking the end tab.

Now you are going to make two lids for the top and bottom of the box.

Step 6

Cut two pieces of card 11.2 cm x 11.2 cm and score all sides at 1cm.
Cut one piece of patterned vellum 9cm x 9cm and 8 pieces 0.8cm x 9cm.
Attach to the lids as in the picture below then cut and slightly mitre the corners.
Fold and crease along score lines and glue the tabs in place.

Step 7

You can decorate the lid if you wish, I threaded some buttons from my stash onto twine, tied them off, made two holes in the lid with my poky tool and threaded the twine through before tying a knot.

Originally I made a larger one with stencilled card and vellum behind the cut outs, the panels are 10cm wide still with a 1cm tab and 15cm high.
Here’s the two sizes for comparison.
