ANOTHER WEEK CLOSER TO CH..............

Good morning everyone.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend?

I have to say that I have been totally blown away by all the fabulous Balloon High creations that have been shown in the group since Lisa's live on Friday night.  What a cracking live it was wasn't it?

Who'd have ever thought that we would all be raving about a beautiful grey ink pad called Cobblestones eh?  But oh boy, what a difference that little bit of grey makes doesn't it?

Nearly five years ago now, my husband had a near fatal heart attack - obviously it had a happy ending as he is still here, a lot fitter than he was back then and yes, occasionally driving me nuts! Lol  But, even though he drives me nuts, I am beyond thankful that he is still here to be able to do that. 💖

So, why am I mentioning this and what does it have to do with craft I hear you say?  Well I'll tell you.

I had some counselling during the months following his heart attack and looking back I can hear myself saying extremely negative things about myself, my outlook, my failings (perceived or real) and that my self worth was none existent. Obvioulsy I didn't realise it at the time.

My Counsellor said to me - "you need to be kinder to yourself!"  "You need to look at things from a different angle" "Talk about yourself in a postive way".  Sounded daft at the time but as the days went by her words resonated and I slowly began to change my outlook and my attitude, especially towards myself.

So, when I see your posts saying things like "It's not very good but it is my first go" or "I think I am too heavy handed to do this" or "I'm not really happy with this" it makes me a bit sad.

So from now on, we are having a "No Negativity" rule in Crafting with Lisa Horton, ok?😁😁😁

Instead, I want you to say "This is my first attempt and I am pleased I gave it a go.  Next time I think I will do this instead of that"  or "I was a bit heavy handed here but I will use this for a male card so that's ok" or "Well this looks different to my original plan but I'm quite happy with it"

Trust me, you will be surprised how much better it makes you feel.  You just watch how the comments change too - it's fabulous.

FABULOUS FRIDAY

Morning all.

What a fabulous week it has been hasn't it?

Complete sell outs with the New and Exclusive.  Complete sell out with the Contingency for the New and Exclusive and then to top all that, complete sell outs on Craft Extra.

I know it means the absolute world to Lisa that you all believe in her and her brand the way you do but I just want to re-iterate what she said in her impromptu live on Wednesday.

The fact that you are a part of our amazing (enormous) group, the fact that you have bought into Lisa and her brand the way you have and the fact that you support not only the entire Design Team but each other as well is simply jaw dropping and it makes the whole thing so worthwhile.

So......

I know it sounds like a bit of a cliche but  the Crafting with Lisa Horton group is like one enormous family and that is thanks to all of you.  Long may it continue and all I can say is the future is bright and very VERY exciting!

*****

So, if you missed Claire's live on Tuesday here is the link to the edited version on our You Tube channel.

If you missed my live from yesterday - here's the link to the edited version on our You Tube channel.

Remember, if you do go and watch, please try and leave a comment.  It let's us know that people have visited and it gives you an opportunity to comment and leave any suggestions too.  Subscribing and clicking the little notification bell will also guarantee that you don't miss any upcoming videos or exciting announcements.  Going forward You Tube is going to be an exciting place to be a part of!  Can't say anymore otherwise Lisa will shoot me! 😉😉

The only other thing I have left to tell you is that obviously, it being Friday our lovely Lisa will be live tonight at 7pm as per usual and this week she is definitely doing a demo using the fabulous new Balloon High stencils and Embossing folder/Die because she didn't get an opportunity to demo them on TV.  Now I wonder why that was?? 😂😂😂
If you have your Balloon High stencils and EF/Die combo - why not craft along with Lisa and then you can post your makes in the group after the live.  That would be fabulous.

So as always you can watch in several ways:
or
(the live is always shared into the main group)

So, have a fabulous Friday and I'll see you all later at Lisa's place! 😉

PROJECT WEDNESDAY - FAIRY TEPEE CARD

 Happy Wednesday morning everyone.

How are we all today?  All good I hope?

What a fantastic couple of days on Create and Craft.  I hope you all managed to grab whatever you wanted, whether that be the New and Exclusive or a fabulous bargain from Craft Extra.  What a made 4 hours with Lisa and Leonie eh?  They are just so funny together.  Craft Extra is such a brilliant idea in my opinion.

***

So, it being Wednesday time for another Project from our lovely DT.

This week's project is brought to you by the lovely Mary Kelly and it is this gorgeous Fairy Tepee Card.  I have only ever made one of these shaped cards before - they aren't as scary as they look honestly.

Let Mary show you.

What you will need:
LHC Star Night slim line Embossing Folder
LHC Merry Christmas Fairy Stamp/Die
LHC Layering Snowflake dies
LHC Festive bold phrases
Card of choice A4 – I have used white, red and white pearlescent
Glue
Colouring pencils/markers/paints
Foam pads
Die cutting machine
Scoreboard
Scissors
Scoring tool
Velcro dot or magnetics for closure
Oval nesting dies or shape of your choice
Guillotine/Trimmer
Ultimate
Black ink for stamping

Step 1:

Cut three 5 inches squares pieces of card. Score each one point to point – it can be helpful to line it up on a scoreboard.

Step 2:

Lay two of the squares side by side as shown- not the position of the scored line. Now lay the three square over the centre as shown. At glue to the reverse and secure – it can be helpful to mark the area for gluing with a pencil. Your card should now fold like the third image.

Step 3:

To mat and layer I used two layers - a red and then the white embossed layer. Cut   two red squares 4 5/8 inches. Cut these in half from point to point to give 4 triangles. For the smaller triangles cut a square of red card 1 6/8 inches, cut this in half to form to small triangles.  Add this to one side of your card.

For the next mat layer I used pearlescent white card. Cut two squares 4 3/8 inches and cut point to point to make 4 triangles. Cut a small square 1 4/8 inches and cut from point to point. Emboss all of these with the star embossing folder. Glue to the red sections of your card.

Step 4:

Once all the layers are dry. Stand your tepee by wrapping the 1st and 4th triangles over reach other. Secure with the Velcro dot/magnetic fastening.

Step 5:

To decorate stamp, colour and cut out your fairy of choice. I mounted mine onto a layered oval – the oval dies were from my stash. Using foam pads attach the fairy. I also cut some layering snowflakes in the pearlescent card and layered these before adding to one side of the card, finishing with a gem.  I added the tree and sentiment to one of the other sides of the tepee.

And there you have it!

Remember to share your makes in the Crafting with Lisa Horton Group if you decide to have a go at this card.  Obviously you can use whatever decoration you want to, it doesn't have to be a Fairy. Lol

Thank you Mary

If you missed my live on Monday, here is the link for the edited version which is now up on our You Tube channel.

I'll add the link for Claire's live on Friday.

So, that's it for today.  See you back here on Friday.

MONDAY MUSINGS

 Good morning all

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend?

What a brilliant live with the lovely Lisa Horton on Friday night wasn't it?

I think it is quite safe to say you are all eager to purchase the new release coming to TV later today. I knew the balloons would be really popular but I think the enthusiasm for the candles and the added Calla Lily set took everyone by surprise.

Mind you, I have to say Lisa has smashed it again hasn't she?  I just don't know how she does it.  Every time I think I have found my favourite Lisa Horton Crafts product she goes and brings out something even better.

The beauty of the balloons and the candles is their versatility.  I mean it isn't very often that a product can be used for quite so many occasions is it?  Men's birthdays, women's birthdays, kids birthdays, party invitations, birth announcements, weddings - did you see Maria's fabulous wedding card all in white? How beautiful was that?

It is a fact that you know when the Design Team love a product by the sheer volume and quality of the samples.  I think this has been one of the most favourite releases as far as the DT are concerned and boy does it show!!

***

We have our second Meet the Team feature today and this week we are finding out just a little bit about the lovely Claire Newcombe.

How many jobs did you have before you found your Dream job?
I always wanted to be a microbiologist, but straight from school I went to work in a bank for a couple of years until the labs were recruiting.
I loved the job and was able to study whilst working to get my qualifications.

Chinese or Indian
Chinese

Fish and Chips or Pizza
Fish & chips from the paper (sitting on a wall in a Welsh harbour ideally)

Surf or turf
Surf, a real seafood girl

Dogs or cats
I only have eyes for my little Hazel dog 🥰

Sport or not
Like to watch athletics, Wimbledon and the England football teams.
More recently I watch the CrossFit games, and that fires me up to get to 3 Crossfit gym classes each week too.

Music whilst crafting or not
I love music, and I’m always singing along to something in the car, but generally I retreat into a silent bubble when I craft.

Favourite film genre
Crime thriller, the more twists and turns the better for me to work out what’s going on.

Favourite music genre
Definitely Pop/Dance (the 80’s are my thing!)

What is your MOST favourite LHC product
My gosh, can anyone on the DT answer this… ummmmm I think I might have to say the Textures & Background stamps (and inks 🙈)

What is your dream for the future
For my family, I want to make sure that my boys are equipped to be independent, happy and able to make the most of their lives.
For myself, it won’t be long until my job as a school run Mum comes to an end …. So when the time comes I want to make sure I live my life to the full- being as fit as I can be, either running a little business or being an integral member of a team.
And ultimately visit Canada, trek through the forests to find bears and a stay in a log cabin with a roaring fire.
Hahaha, think I’ll be a bit busy!

Gosh Claire you are going to be a busy little bee aren't you?

***

FEATURED FOLLOWER FRIDAY

Hello everyone

My goodness, don't these Friday's roll around quickly?

Is it my age do you think?  Time never used to go this quickly, I'm sure it didn't!

Well, two days of doing absolutely nothing, dosed up on Ibuprofen and fingers crossed the back seems quite a bit better today.

I know in the big scheme of things that back pain is just an inconvenience, and there are many worse problems I could have but it is just that, a flippin' inconvenience!

Doesn't matter what you do, how you sit, lie or stand, it's just there isn't it?

Reading all your lovely comments the other day made me realise that I am not alone in that inconvenience, there are many many people who suffer with debilitating pain in some shape or form.  So to all you people who suffer with such things, and many worse things too, this is for you.

***

So, onto the business of the day then.

Today is the second "Featured Follower" post.
This week I chose a very active lady in our group.
Now this lady hasn't been a group member for that long but I think it is safe to say she might be hooked on Lisa Horton Crafts products. 😃😃

Every time I look at her cards, I feel inspired.
Today, let me show you some projects from the lovely
VIKKI WHITE

Any my particular favourite

So what do you think?  Is she hooked?  Will she be a member of the very distinctive Naughty Step Gang?
I think she just might be. 😂

Thank you Vikki for being such an active and supportive member of the group.  I look forward to seeing more of your lovely makes in the group.

***

The only other VERY important thing to mention - of course - is Lisa's live tonight at 7pm.

I'm pretty sure Lisa said she was doing a demo tonight so that will be great.  Especially as she will probably be using one of the AWESOME new die sets appearing on TV - albeit quite briefly I imagine - next Monday and Tuesday.
So remember, you can watch Lisa either:
or
Remember, not only is there a giveaway as usual but Lisa will also be announcing a winner from the comments left on the Shorts videos on You Tube, so tonight, there are two chances to win - provided you have commented and that you like and share the live tonight. Lol

PROJECT WEDNESDAY - A BIRTHDAY WISH!

 Morning everyone

Well, what a change in the weather! Today it is cold, windy and very very wet!

So, what could be better than shutting out the rain and getting your craft on?

With it being Wednesday we have another fabulous project for you.

Today's project is from our lovely Karen.

Karen's style is very Clean and Simple but oh my word, so beautiful.

So here is Karen's project for you.

Today, I thought I’d look at the “Skinny Alphabet”, “How Many Candles” and the “Floral Pocket Petals” which I love!

Firstly, I cut out the letters from the “Skinny Alphabet” and the Birthday word

and the small flame from the “How Many Candles”. I lined up the letters and “Birthday” using the“not very sticky” Scotch tape technique and placed the letters centrally on the card blank. I then mat and layered the white card to a piece of yellow card.

I die cut some flowers from the “Floral Pocket Petals” and fiddled about choosing the best place to

put them on the card before sticking down!

I also like cutting up the die cut leaves so they fit in

All these dies are so versatile and can be changed about to suit.

So there is just one way to use the fabulous new How Many Candles Die set which works beautifully with Lisa's other die sets.  Well, you'd expect no less now would you? Lol

If you missed my live on Monday, here is the edited version from You Tube for you to watch at your leisure.

If you missed Claire's live yesterday, here's the link to watch the edited version which is on our You Tube channel.

See you back here on Friday when we will have the second of our Featured Followers blogs.  I wonder who it will be this time?  😉😉

MONDAY MUSINGS

 Good morning lovely people.

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend doing things that make you all happy.

So, in my live last week I said that I was looking at a new feature for this little old blog.

Well today is the day to...................

MEET THE TEAM

Well, not all the team in one go - that wouldn't be much of a feature now would it? Lol.

I have given the Design Team (including Lisa) a list of questions - just for fun questions you understand, nothing too serious - this is just a fun way to get to know a little bit about each of our wonderful DT members.

Now it would only be right and fitting to start with the Boss don't you think?

Okay, lovely Lisa Horton is going to start the ball rolling for us, so let's get on with it shall we?

What did you want to be when you were at school?
I wanted to be a window dresser, but I needed to study French, of all things!  I struggle with English lol

How many jobs did you have before you found your Dream job?
Too many to mention, as I was a "temp" in London for many years, so an awful lot of jobs,  I have to confess.

Chinese or Indian
Mmmm, takeaway it would be Indian.  If a restaurant, Chinese!

Fish and Chips or Pizza
Fish and Chips

Surf or turf
Probably turf, but to be fair I only really eat Chicken and a Spaghetti Bolognese in the Turf department

Dogs or cats
Now there's a daft question! CATS of course!

Sport or not
Errrr.... or not.

Music whilst crafting or not
Netflix for me.

Favourite film genre
Crime/Thriller

Favourite music genre
Pop/Rock

What is your MOST favourite LHC product
That is like asking me to choose my favourite child (even though I only have 1) lol
But probably I would say, my Embossing folder & stencil combo with the Ulti-Mate

What is your dream for the future.
A bit cheesy, but to be happy, healthy and work hard to provide a stable future for my daughter.

Well, who knew that Lisa liked Cats??  😂😂😂
See I told you it was just a bit of fun.  A little insight into each of our DT members.

This week's calendar for you:

Monday I will be live in the Crafting with Lisa Horton Group at 1pm and this week we are doing backgrounds!

Tuesday Claire will be live in the Crafting with Lisa Horton Group at 11am and I know she will be using the fabulous Fir Trees.

Wednesday is Project Day on the Blog - it's a good 'un!

Thursday I will be live in the Crafting with Lisa Horton Group at 10am

Friday our lovely Lisa will be live at 7pm as usual.
I think she is doing a demo this week with the new product going to TV on 10th/11th October which is of course Monday and Tuesday next week.
You can watch Lisa's lives on her Business Page - Lisa Horton Crafts or you can watch via our You Tube channel or you can watch in the Crafting with Lisa Horton group as the live is always shared into the group.

So there you go then, a bit of an insight into our lovely Lisa and a schedule of what's going on this week in the world of Lisa Horton Crafts.

Thanks for popping in and I'll see you back here on Wednesday for a brilliant project.
