WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY - PROJECT DAY

 Good morning everyone.

I hope you are all having a good week?  I've got to say I am loving seeing all the gorgeous Birdhouses and Boots, Narcissus and Marigold creations in the group.  It's amazing how they all look so different from one another.

Well, it was my daughter's birthday on Monday and just her luck she went and caught Covid.  It was a present from her partner - he really does know how to push the boat out with his gifts but this year he really excelled himself. Bless.  Hopefully she will bounce back really soon and be able to enjoy the goodies I sent her. 😟😟

BIRDHOUSE & FLOWERS

So it's project day on a Wednesday and oh boy do we have a project for you today.  I know a lot of you, myself included, were blown away by Tina's fabulous Bird House creation.  Well here, just for you, are Tina's instructions on how to make it!

Take it away Tina.

Products Used -

Home Tweet Home Stencils
Home Tweet Home Embossing Folder and Die
Woodgrain Embossing Folder
Nested Stitched Bubble Squares
Parquet Flooring Embossing Folder
Daisy Daisy Die Set
Posy Builder Die Set (for foliage)
Nested Pocket Builder (for button detail on flowers)
Slimline Multi Envelope Die Set (for stitched flower centres)
Cloud Nine Blending Ink Sugar Candy
Cloud Nine Blending Ink Cobble Stones
Cloud Nine Blending Ink Spiced Plum
Cloud Nine Blending Ink Woodland Moss
Wooden coffee stirrers (for bird house and flower stems)

1. Using heavyweight card cut 2 pieces of cardstock 6 1/4 inch x 1 3/4. Score both of these at 1/2 inch, 2 1/4, 4 and 5 3/4.
On only 1 of these pieces cut off the 1/2 inch ends. Burnish the crease lines, apply glue to the two tabs on the other piece and attach both sections together with glue or red liner tape. This forms your base.

2. Cut out 6 x 1 1/2inch squares and 6 x 1 1/4inch squares (using the smallest dies from the Stitched Bubble Squares set).  I embossed the smaller ones with the Parquet Flooring embossing folder and layered on the larger square using foam tape for dimension. I then attached them to the squares around the base.

3. Cut 4 pieces of 6 3/4inch x 1 1/2inch card and score them all at 3/4inch, 1 1/2, 2 1/4, 3 3/4, 4 1/2 and 5 1/4. These are for the inside of the box to give it strength and enable it to pop up. Fold them as shown in the photograph and glue, so that you have 4 little springs.

4. Attach 2 of the ‘springs’ - one to the middle front of the box and the other to the middle back using glue as in the photograph.  Cut 2 lengths of card 1/2inch wide and 7 1/2inch high. Emboss them with the Woodgrain embossing folder. Insert 2 wooden coffee stirrers (side by side) and central, between the pieces of card for strength and stick them together. Attach to your stencilled and embossed Home Tweet Home birdhouse to the stick. Cut another outline of this using the die and stick on the back so that it hides where you’ve attached the stick to the birdhouse. Glue the stick to the inside front of the back ‘spring’ so your birdhouse is now in place.

5. Cut some flowers to decorate your box. I used the Daisy Daisy die set and cut 2 layers for each flower, and layered them with 3D foam. Use coffee stirrers again for the stems. I cut pieces of card in green to cover the stirrers front and back.

6. Add the other 2 ‘springs’ to the box.  Fix them with glue to the ones at the front and back. You’ll see that they find their own place. Push the box flat to make sure it’s all sitting nicely.

7. Arrange your flowers and leaves, making sure you push the box flat each time you add something so that they are not in the way of each other when pressed flat. Add centres to the flowers for a pretty finishing touch. I used the stitched button die and the stitched circle.

Hope you’ve enjoyed making this pretty project as much as I have.
Love Tina x
